Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte could be sacked before the end of the season, with Carlo Ancelotti waiting in the wings to replace him, according to the Daily Record.
The report suggests that Ancelotti has already held talks with Roman Abramovich about taking the job next summer.
Conte is widely expected to leave the club in the summer and return to his home country after two seasons in the Premier League.
Ian McGarry, who was speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast claims that Ancelotti will be moving back to London in the new year, waiting for the call from his former club.
Ancelotti will not be returning to PSG because he will be moving back to London in February.
And there he will be waiting to replace Conte at Chelsea. He has been spoken to by Chelsea with regards to succeeding Conte, who everyone at the club believes will not be at the club beyond the end of this season.
Ancelotti won the double during his time at Stamford Bridge and was a fan favourite before being sacked by Abramovich.
To this day the decision to remove Ancelotti from his position is seen as one of Abramovich’s most ruthless decisions among the club’s supporters.
McGarry hints that Conte could be given his marching orders before the end of the season if a bad performance in the Champions League ensues.
