Jose Mourinho has revealed that Antonio Valencia will not recover from a hamstring injury in time for Saturday’s trip to Leicester City.
The Ecuadorian, following an accumulation of games, pulled up with a hamstring injury during the 2-1 win over West Bromwich Albion and immediately came off.
Mourinho noted after the game that he had indeed picked up a muscle injury but couldn’t disclose how severe it was, although Valencia described himself as ‘fine’ on social media soon after.
But the 54-year-old, speaking at a press conference, noted that Valencia, along with Marouane Fellaini, Eric Bailly and Michael Carrick, would not feature at the Kingpower Stadium.

Supporters will desperately hope that their manager is merely taking extra precautions with Valencia ahead of a period comprising of five games before the first weekend of 2018. Matteo Darmian‘s display at Bristol City revealed emphatically that Manchester United simply cannot cope without their first choice right back.
Fellaini continues to linger on the sidelines, with Man United’s medical staff reportedly unable to gauge the exact problem with his knee, while Eric Bailly could miss up to three months.
Carrick, on the other hand, continues to recover full fitness following a series of heart problems in September and the boss has confirmed the he won’t return in time to aid United over a busy fortnight.
The manager also revealed that Michael Carrick is unlikely to feature during the festive period. #MUFC http://pic.twitter.com/ryOs3zVmBJ
