Jose Mourinho has remained coy about his plans for the January transfer window following Manchester United’s dismal 0-0 draw with Southampton on Saturday.
The hosts produced an insipid, confidence-sapped performance as they fell to their third draw in a row against Mauricio Pellegrino’s men.
Man United have now fallen to third spot in the table and Mourinho’s comments following the Burnley game, where he called out the board for failing to match Manchester City’s ambition in the market, feel more relevant than ever.
But Mourinho, when asked about his plans for January, was in no mood to divulge any plans for the upcoming window.
“I really don’t know but I am happy with the players and the attitudes and desires and I have no complaints about my players,” he said.
The 54-year-old would never admit straight after a game that his side requires reinforcements, but deep down he has to know that more needs to be done.
Indeed, that was the exact message he sent to the board earlier this week. United’s transfer policy has been dictated by the whims of three different managers since 2013 and the squad, as a result, looks disjointed and without a clear identity.
Mourinho was right to bring light upon the club’s skewed transfer policy and the ball is now firmly in Ed Woodward’s court.
