Jesse Lingard has expressed his dismay at Manchester United’s disappointing display against Burnley on Boxing Day.
A lack of organisation at the back gifted Burnley an early goal before Steven Defour doubled their advantage with a superb free-kick.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcos Rojo came off at half time and Man United went for the jugular in the second period as Lingard saved the day with two superb strikes.
Speaking after the game, Lingard couldn’t help but hide his frustration at what was another unacceptable display from Jose Mourinho’s men.
Lingard: “It’s disapointing, obviously we created a lot of chances, we should have won the game. We dominated the game so we’re disappointed. I’m on form at the moment, it’s great being in the team and helping the team get goals.” #MUFC

We can point to the various structural problems that have seemingly hallmarked United’s poor run of late, but the fact of the matter is that their recent malaise has stemmed from one thing: being spanked at home by Manchester City.
Since then, United have scraped past AFC Bournemouth, nearly thrown away two points at West Bromwich Albion, lost to Bristol City, inexplicably drawn with a ten-men Leicester City, and now this – a languid, blunt-edged attacking display which saw Romelu Lukaku, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcus Rashford fail to impress.
The psychological demons were implanted on that day – an occasion that culminated in things spilling over in the tunnel and, more worryingly, on the pitch over the following weeks.
