Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has delivered an update on the condition of his star striker Alvaro Morata.
Speaking ahead of his side’s Carabao Cup clash against Bournemouth on Wednesday evening, Conte was quizzed about Morata’s fitness as he continues to recover from a back injury.
As quoted by Metro, Conte brought positive news on the Spaniard.
Yeah he’s okay. He had this problem in his back before the game against West Ham and struggled a lot with this problem.
Morata came off the bench in Chelsea’s recent 1-0 win over Southampton and looked considerably sharp. Although it seems he is back to full fitness, Conte revealed that he intends to give Michy Batshuayi a chance to lead the line on Wednesday.
But I think he’s working really well, finding his best form. Tomorrow I want to give an opportunity, a chance, for Batshuayi to shine.
Since his summer move from Real Madrid, Morata has impressed. He is leading the line well for Chelsea and is contributing with more than a fair share of goals in both the Premier League and the Champions League.
Batshuayi, though, has seen his first-team opportunities seriously limited. The Belgian international has even seen Eden Hazard, a winger by trade, preferred to him in a free role up top.
Chelsea can progress to the two-legged semi-finals of the Carabao Cup if they beat Bournemouth.
