A second-half blitz saw Chelsea stroll to a comfortable 2-0 victory over Brighton at Stamford Bridge.
As has become a common theme this season Chelsea have dominated possession without finding a breakthrough, and this was especially true for the Blues’s first-half performance. Victor Moses came closest to opening the scoring when his late dart into the box was spotted expertly by Fabregas, but his tame finish was palmed away by Matt Ryan at his near post. Bakayoko also poked wide from just six yards out, in an otherwise uneventful first 45 minutes.
In stark contrast to the first-half, Chelsea exploded into life after the break, taking the lead after just 51 seconds when Cesar Azpilicueta crossed onto the head of Alvaro Morata to score his 10th Premier League goal of the season and the sixth time Azpilicueta and Morata have combined to score. Chelsea continued their lightning start to the half, as Hazard fired wide from Bakayoko’s lay off. Marcos Alonso was then quickly in on the action curling a free-kick that was saved by Ryan, seeing his header tipped over from the subsequent corner and then finally doubling Chelsea’s lead with a near-post flick from the corner that followed his header just moments earlier.
Hazard nearly placed a convincing shine on the result but his shot from a superb counter-attacking move was cleared off the line by Lewis Dunk.
