Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte has hailed Thibaut Courtois as one of the best goalkeepers in the world, as he played down fears of the player’s contract talks.
The Independent report that the Italian was coy when quizzed about the Belgian’s future at the club, claiming that questions about a new deal should be directed to the club and not him.
Conte was full of praise for the Belgian has he put on the charm offensive, a clear indication that everyone at the club is aware of the 25-year-old’s abilities.
I must be honest I think this question is for the club not for me, I like to also to give my opinion about technical decisions but it is also important for the club to face this issue, this contract with Courtois.
I can tell you he is one of the best, maybe the best goalkeeper in the world and he is a player very important for Chelsea but the renewal of contract is a task for the club.
Courtois himself was questioned about a new deal during the week and admitted that there is still plenty of time on his current deal.
Reports this morning have suggested that Courtois wants a deal that pays him in line with David De Gea, who is widely considered as the best goalkeeper in the Premier League, which is believed to be somewhere in the region of £205,000-a-week.
