The Manchester United factor is so strong that players who have long retired remain subjects of interest to people.
Especially if the person in question is the club’s all-time leading goalscorer, as Wayne Rooney is.
Rooney recently made the headlines after he was mercilessly trolled by a wrestler during a live event in the United Kingdom.
The United legend was sitting in the front row for a World Wrestling Entertainment show in the UK when a wrestler named Drew Mcintyre took a shot at him.
He started off by giving Rooney his flowers, calling him “the man” back in his days and propping him up before the killer final blow.
Mcintyre said he was the same age as Rooney, before asking him, “What happened to you?!”

This is not Rooney’s first run-in with the world of professional wrestling either.
He has earlier made the news for slapping a professional wrestler while in character for disrespecting him.
His boxing celebration and getting knocked out was also a viral moment after footage of him getting knocked out spread on social media.
Rooney is currently out of work after being sacked by Birmingham City earlier this season following a nightmare spell in charge.
His managerial stock took a huge hit after encouraging performances at DC United as manager.
The player has been open about his interest in managing Manchester United one day but that seems like a bridge extremely distant right now.
His first priority will be getting back into the thick of things, even as just a member of the backroom staff to rehabilitate his stock, something which Pep Guardiola seemed very open to recently.
