United academy star hoping to use "perfect" loan spell to fulfill ultimate "dream" - report

Manchester United youngster Alvaro Fernandez has revealed that it is his dream to one day feature for the Red Devils in the Premier League.

Fernandez, who is currently out on loan with Preston North End, spoke to club media and outlined his ambition to represent the United senior team.

The Spaniard, who arrived at Old Trafford from Real Madrid in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic said, “It was always a dream of mine to play in the Premier League and Manchester United is a big team in the Premier League and across the world.”

“It was always a challenge and a dream to play there and that’s why I’m fighting to be there.”

The 20-year-old shed light on his time so far at Deepdale under the stewardship of Ryan Lowe.

As per Fernandez, he is learning a lot in the Championship and his wish is to continue playing as many games as possible.

The player claimed that he enjoys the hectic schedule as it leaves little time for feeling sorry for oneself in the event of a disappointing result.

Fernandez remarked that PNE’s primary objective this season is to make it to the play-offs and he will do everything in his power to realize this goal.

The full-back narrated just how hard he found it to adapt to life in Manchester, where he now feels firmly at home.

“At the beginning, when I came here to England, I was in digs with an English family. It was very good from them, that they helped me start to speak English. You always have to learn something new, but now I can speak it better!”

“The first year I could only go back at Christmas and summer, so it was hard to come to a new place and a new culture, with a new football team as well. It was hard, but the people have always been good to me in England.”

Fernandez has made 34 appearances for PNE this season and has on more than one occasion been singled out for praise by Lowe.

During this time, he has registered four assists – a relatively decent output. Hopefully, his time in the Championship acts as a launchpad for a senior United debut.

Ronaldo's strike partner hoping to use "ugly" loan spell to break through at United - report

Manchester United youngster Charlie McNeill has described the experience of making his debut alongside Cristiano Ronaldo as a dream come true.

McNeill made his senior United debut in a 1-0 Europa League defeat to Real Sociedad in front of a packed Old Trafford.

Speaking to The South Wales Argus, McNeill revealed that he was astounded that Erik ten Hag chose to bring him on with the Red Devils in search of an equalizer.

McNeill who is currently out on loan with League Two Side Newport County said, “I’ve always loved Ronaldo since he first played for United before going to Real Madrid.

“I just loved him and fortunately enough I got to make my debut and was playing up front with him. That was just surreal, a dream come true.”

“I thought I was getting close [to a debut] a couple of times and then the new manager [Erik ten Hag] came in and I’d been training really well.”

“He saw that and put me in the squad but I didn’t think that I would come on because we were getting beaten 1-0. He put me on and I was just buzzing to play in front of 75,000.”

McNeill is yet to add to his one cap for the 20-time English champions but he is hopeful that a successful loan spell with Newport can provide a solid platform for more first-team opportunities.

The 19-year-old expressed just how much he has relished the physical nature of playing in League Two.

As per the United man, he has learned a lot so far in the eleven games he has started and is now equipped with more knowledge of what it takes to play in a senior side.

“I wanted to come out on loan to get experience in men’s football and coming here and having played 11 games already so far it has been a massive learning curve.”

“It has been tough physically but I’ve really enjoyed that, going up against defenders, challenging for headers, the ugly side of the game that I really need to work on.”

McNeill recently scored his first senior goal and he is optimistic that this will open the floodgates for more to come.

United "firmly in the mix" for dominant midfielder enjoying the season of his life - report

One look at Manchester United’s available options in midfield makes it apparent that manager Erik ten Hag must be thinking of strengthening in that position ahead of next summer.

Christian Eriksen and Donny van de Beek remain sidelined for the long-term while Casemiro is still in the process of serving his four-match suspension on account of his second red card.

The much-maligned pair of Fred and Scott McTominay seem to be the fully-fit options after loan signing Marcel Sabitzer also got injured on international duty.

Midfielder required

The pair of ‘McFred‘ are not the best passers and United need to bring in someone who can cover for Casemiro and Eriksen considering their advancing years,

The likes of Frenkie de Jong of Barcelona, in-demand England sensation Jude Bellingham, West Ham’s Declan Rice and Southampton youngster Romeo Lavia are among those who have been linked with a move to Old Trafford.

One interesting option could be going back in for Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot. The Frenchman was close to sealing a move last season only for the deal to break down at the last moment.

The France international has enjoyed his career-best season this term and has been one of the shining lights for the Turin club in what has been a disappointing season so far.

The 27-year-old has nine goals and four assists in 33 games across all competitions and he can also play as the defensive-minded player as well as further forward.

His contract ends at the end of the current season which makes him an attractive proposition for many clubs. But his mother, who is his agent, can be difficult to deal with while Juventus are also keen to keep him.

However, transfer insider Graeme Bailey has told TeamTalk that a host of Premier League clubs, led by United, are after him but are not sure whether he actually wants to move to England.

Rabiot move back on?

“Adrien Rabiot’s situation is fascinating, he is a very interesting option for a lot of clubs. He gets a lot of criticism from fans, mainly on-line, due to his pay packet – which is not his fault. But within the game he is very highly thought of.

“Manchester United went for him in January and they remain firmly in the mix, as do Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham, Newcastle – if he does indeed have the desire to move, he will not be short of interest.

“But that is one of the main issues here, all the interested parties in England are not 100% convinced that he wants to leave Italy or at the very least that he wants to play in the Premier League.

“Staying at Juventus is a realistic option, but he could be one of the best Bosman frees this summer.”

Pep to do Ten Hag a huge favour as United's chances of landing top target rises - report

Manchester United could sign Frenkie de Jong if Barcelona sign Ilkay Gundogan this summer.

In a move which could throw the Dutch midfielder’s plans in the window, Erik ten Hag might be able to get his primary target after all.

Since his arrival as manager, he has been very persistent in wanting to bring the 25-year-old to the club.

His pursuit has been unsuccessful, with De Jong himself claiming that he doesn’t want to leave Barcelona to join Man United.

However, this hasn’t stopped Ten Hag from showing a huge amount of interest in the Dutch international.

According to The Mirror, if Barcelona signs Ilkay Gundogan this summer, De Jong’s future will indeed be in huge doubt.

United had an initial £56.2million bid agreed with Barca at the start of the season but the player declined as he remained adamant on staying.

Fans may remember that De Jong was regularly benched while the club tried to sell him but after the transfer window closed, but he was later given a run in the team and has been ever-present since.

The outlet claims that the midfielder is still one of Ten Hag’s top targets for the summer as he is still open to bringing his former Ajax star to the club.

It is unlikely that De Jong will change his mind and could still reject United if a bid goes in to Barcelona.

Casemiro and Christian Eriksen arrived instead last summer and have provided a great combination up until the Danish international’s injury.

Marcel Sabitzer joined in January but hasn’t had the time to make the same impact as the two arrivals last year.

Ten Hag could also be boosted by Barca’s current financial situation with things looking precarious going into the next transfer window.

They will definitely need to sell before they can purchase anymore players.

If Gundogan arrived, he would no doubt provide fresh competition for De Jong and could even replace him after outstanding performances for Manchester City in recent years.

€100m package leave excellent Man United target with huge decision - report

Manchester United face a battle to secure midfield target Gabriel Veiga in the summer, as the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester City line up to sign the wonderkid.

And according to Spanish outlet AS, matters are further complicated by the player’s uncertain agency situation.

Currently without representation, Veiga is exploring his options. Given his meteoric rise this season, he certainly has his pick. With the transfer fee, salary, and bonuses all considered, a total package of €100m looks likely – meaning a hefty commission is up for grabs for prospective agents, hence the vulture-like circling.

Agents are said to have been contacting clubs around Europe to look for possible contracts to present Veiga, under the guise of already having secured the player’s representation. That would go some way to explaining the myriad of transfer stories relating to the 20-year-old of late, although Celta Vigo’s president’s comments are another big factor.

As reported by The Peoples Person earlier this week, Carlos Mourino accepts that his club have virtually no chance of keeping Veiga in the summer.

And according to Celta Vigo president Mourino himself, at least four Premier League clubs are also said to be interested, along with Real Madrid.

Veiga has a £35m release clause in his contract which, in today’s market, makes him an enormous bargain considering his obvious talent.

He may only have burst onto the seen this season, but he has caught the eye already, with his incredible dribbling ability a particular standout. It in an attribute that Erik ten Hag is keen to add to his midfield as he looks to add more options to help Man United progress the ball up the pitch.

Veiga’s goal threat certainly does not hurt his appeal either, having scored nine goals and provided three assists this season from the middle of the park.

His direct style of play and fearlessness on the ball are certainly qualities that would be welcome at Old Trafford and, at just 20 years of age, Veiga would be an excellent addition to Ten Hag’s squad.

Given the demand for Gabriel Veiga, Man United will need to be at their best to secure the precocious talent, and his tricky agent situation only complicates matters further.

AS does state that Veiga is now losing faith in agents in general, meaning that the option of him forgoing representation altogether remains a possibility. That would certainly add another wrinkle to what is likely to be one of the transfer stories of the summer.

Mourinho to the rescue: unpopular United star encouraged to leave club by former boss - report

Despite a relatively successful first season in charge of Manchester United, manager Erik ten Hag has a lot of problems to solve ahead of his second season.

Transfer dealings will take precedence with the quest to add a quality striker high on the club’s agenda. There is also a need to bring in a midfielder and a defender.

There are also question marks surrounding David de Gea‘s long-term future at the club. The Spaniard’s current deal expires at the end of this season though the club have the option of extending it by another year.

DDG contract talks stalling

But the Red Devils have been reluctant to do so and have instead begun negotiations over a brand-new contract but on lowered wages. The United No 1 has rejected the club’s first offer.

The Spain international, while being a great shot-stopper, does not have the qualities Ten Hag wants from his keeper. His passing remains erratic while he is reluctant to come off his line to sweep or to claim crosses.

A section of the fan-base have advocated for the club to ruthlessly cut their losses like Manchester City and Arsenal had done with their long-term No 1’s in their pursuit of excellence.

The Reds have been linked with a plethora of keepers including Brentford’s David Raya, Diogo Costa of Portugal and Borussia Dortmund No 1 Gregor Kobel.

But due to the prices being mentioned and the lack of clarity regarding the club’s budget in the summer, the safer option would be keep hold of De Gea for the time-being.

However, former United boss Jose Mourinho could have other ideas. According to Fichajes, the current Roma boss is pondering over a free move for De Gea in the summer.

There is also interest from Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain as well as Serie A side Juventus. But Mourinho’s cordial relationship with the United star could prove key.

Roma in for DDG

“Roma would be willing to assess the signing of David de Gea to reinforce the squad led by the Portuguese coach José Mourinho for next season, with the Spanish footballer having several offers from top-level European teams such as Paris Saint Germain or Juventus from Turin.

“The Portuguese coach wants to count on the services of De Gea again, since he is not entirely convinced with the current goalkeepers of the Giallorosso team, in an operation that would mean a significant financial effort for the Italian team,” the report mentioned.

Losing De Gea on a free would not benefit United as he still has a lot to give in the short-term and his experience would help till a new shot-stopper is brought in and he can learn to manage the humungous expectations at Old Trafford.

United plotting €50m deal for Bundesliga keeper as De Gea contract talks stall

Manchester United’s primary problem position is up front where the team clearly lack an elite goalscorer. But many have advocated for a change at the back as well.

The hunt for a striker is on and the majority of the budget is expected to be used in that chase but there is a need to have a serious discussion around David de Gea‘s place in the side.

Manager Erik ten Hag clearly prefers playing with a high-line which requires a keeper to be comfortable with the ball at their feet and have the ability to initiate sweeping actions when required.

New goalie needed at United

For all of the Spaniard’s strengths, leaving his line, playing out from the back and claiming crosses is not his forte, which makes him unsuitable for the modern game.

His shot-stopping ability is still strong and he has saved United many times this season with picture-worthy saves. But it is in the other aspects that he is letting down the Dutch boss.

The Red Devils continue to employ a low defensive line and the Spanish international’s passing still remains erratic. Ten Hag has admitted that while he has improved in that aspect, there are still improvements to be made.

The club are in talks with the United No 1 but he has rejected the first offer from the club and currently there has been no breakthrough.

The Red Devils have been linked with quite a few shot-stoppers across Europe with the likes of David Raya of Brentford and Porto’s Diogo Costa among those frequently mentioned.

The latest entrant in that list is Borussia Dortmund’s No 1 Gregor Kobel and the Bundesliga giants are aware of the interest their goalie is generating in England.

United are said to be admirers while Chelsea and Tottenham are also said to be looking at a potential deal in the summer.

That is why the current Bundesliga leaders are trying to increase the terms of his contract. His current deal goes on till 2026 and they want to extend it by another couple of years.

“Dortmund wants to prematurely extend the contract with Kobel, which runs until 2026. It’s a contract for a year or two.

“Manchester United and Chelsea have expressed a specific interest. At Bayern he is traded for the time after Manuel Neuer (contract until 2024), which does not surprise.

Kobel is much admired across Europe

“And now there are rumors in England that Tottenham Hotspur are thinking of him because of the successor to world champion goalkeeper Hugo Lloris,” a report in the Blick mentioned.

The report mentioned that Dortmund could realistically collect as much as €40-50 million from his sale.

While Dortmund want to extend Kobel’s deal, it will be difficult to match his expectations and the wages that he could earn in England.

The Switzerland international is said to be currently earning €4million a year. A new contract would mean a rise to €12-13 million.

That would be difficult to sustain for Dortmund as the top earners — Marco Reus or Niklas Süle earn that much.

It will be interesting to see where Kobel eventually heads to. One fact is for certain, United need a new goalkeeper and they shoudl address this issue as soon as possible.

These two Frenchmen could transform Man United's midfield under Ten Hag

Manchester United are among the favourites to sign Manu Kone this summer, despite interest from Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain.

Chelsea are also interested in the Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder and, with the player seemingly more likely to move to the Premier League, it could end up being a battle between the two English clubs, although other suitors are likely to emerge.

“Manu Kone is a fine young player who’s making the headlines a bit more recently, with links to the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea,” Jonathan Johnson reports in his CaughtOffside column.

And while there is “rumoured interest from PSG,” Johnson does not see the French club “being able to pay the kind of money that would be needed for a signing like Kone.”

That is in large part due to the exorbitant contracts currently on PSG’s books, with the reporter believing that “As long as the contract situations of Sergio Ramos and Lionel Messi remain unresolved ahead of the summer, it’s hard to see PSG winning the race for Kone, and it’s difficult to see them doing much else with their squad.”

Nevertheless, there is certainly a demand for midfielders in the summer, and as Johnson says:

“Manchester United seem to be one of those, having been linked with both Kone and Enzo Le Fee, who plays for Lorient and is another impressive talent who I expect to be of interest to a number of big clubs right now.”

Both Kone and Le Fee are interesting prospects and would certainly add something different to Manchester United’s midfield options.

The French pair are in the top 3% for successful Take-ons Completed in the ‘Big 5’ leagues in Europe and it seems clear that Erik ten Hag is keen to add a player with excellent dribbling ability to his midfield.

Kone (21) is in fact the more prolific when it comes to beating a defender, completing 2.17 take-ons per 90 minutes compared to Le Fee’s 1.83.

There does appear to be more to the latter’s game, however, with the FC Lorient midfielder completing more tackles, passes, and interceptions per game than Kone.

Le Fee (23) also boasts better direct goal contribution number, have scored five goals, and assisted the same number this season. Kone, meanwhile, has one of each.

Of course, the Bundesliga and Ligue 1 do have differences between them and both players are sure to have plenty of suitors in the summer.

Either player would certainly be a valuable addition to Ten Hag’s squad next season. It will probably come down to who is still available when the club gives up on their inevitable pursuit of Frenkie de Jong.

(All stats courtesy of Fbref – for Kone and Le Fee)

Former United man caught in the middle of racism row during explosive interview

Former Manchester United player Bojan Djordjic has been caught up in a race storm with Sweden manager Janne Andersson.

Djordjic interviewed the Swedish national team coach after their 5-0 Euro 2024 qualifying success over Azerbaijan, on Monday.

As reported by Football Transfers, the pair shared a heated disagreement which led to Andersson storming off the set.

The Sweden boss originally took issue with Djordjic questioning the number of minutes Jesper Karlsson was afforded in the two qualifying games.

Djordjic then said he was simply asking a question the Swedish fans would want answering and it was the manager’s duty to answer, as a representative of the nation.

Andersson then asked Djordjic who he ‘represents’.

Djordjic, who was born in Belgrade, Serbia but represented Sweden at youth level replied with “Sweden, of course.”

Andersson then replied with “Oh really!?”, in a sarcastic tone.

The former United man then asked Andersson to expand on his response before saying how disappointed he was with the way Andersson had conducted himself.

“Why wouldn’t I? What do you mean by that? Who else should I represent? Which other country? Are you referring to Serbia? Is that what you are trying to say? That’s low of you Janne.

“I represent Sweden just as much as everyone else. I will never forget this answer, it’s very bad coming from the national head coach to say ‘who do you represent?’,” said Djordjic.

At this point Andersson stormed off the set and Djordjic has since demanded an apology, as reported by The Sun.

Andersson fervently denies any accusations of racism toward Djorjic. When asked if he had insinuated that Djordjic does not represent Sweden during the exchange, he replied; “Never in hell.”

Djordjic joined Manchester United in 1999 and spent six years at Old Trafford, despite never fully breaking into the first team, making just two senior appearances under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Premier League manager begging CEO to sign this Man United star - report

Newcastle United are ready to step up thier pursuit to sign Manchester Uniyed midfielder Scott McTominay.

As reported by Football Insider, The Magpies are keen to add McTominay to their ranks and are expected to make their move in the summer window.

McTominay has found himself on the fringes at United this season. The signings of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen have left The Scot playing second fiddle to Ten Hag’s first eleven.

Injuries have also disrupted the midfielder’s campaign having spent six games in February on the treatment table.

Additionally, Ten Hag seems to trust both Fred and loan signing Marcel Sabitzer more than McTominay at present, leading to the speculation over his future.

Ten Hag is also expected to go into the market for a midfielder in the summer, which would leave McTominay even further away from the first team.

Speculation of Frenkie de Jong just will not go away, with Ten Hag reportedly still desperate to make him part of his Old Trafford revolution.

Jude Bellingham is another name consistently linked with a move to Manchester and both players would no doubt command a starring role in Ten Hag’s side.

Eddie Howe is believed to be a keen admirer of McTominay and will be able to offer the player a stronger guarantee of game time at St. James’ Park.

The Newcastle boss has reportedly told his owners to get a deal for McTominay over the line in the summer.

A sale would also raise funds for United’s summer kitty, with the club in the midst of a record-breaking sale, it is still unclear on who will be writing the cheques in the summer market.

McTomiany would command a decent fee given his age and Premier League experience.

The 26-year-old has played over 200 games for the club, giving his all every time he pulls on the red shirt.

The Scot is also a fully fledged international and excelled in Scotland’s recent opening Euro 2024 qualifying games, scoring twice against both Cyprus and Spain, respectively.

United must act quick to sign €120 million man who will transform Ten Hag's attack

Manchester United’s search for a centre-forward is set to ramp up over the coming weeks, with the summer window fast approaching.

Top of Erik ten Hag’s wish list is Napoli goal machine, Victor Osimhen.

However, as reported by Sport Witness, United will have to move quickly if they are to secure the signing of the Nigerian striker.

Osimhen is widely expected to leave Naples in the summer, with the Italian side slapping a €120 million price tag on his head.

A host of Europe’s top clubs are interested in the striker with Bayern Munich reportedly the latest side to approach the Serie A league leaders.

United are desperate for a world-class forward to join the ranks at Old Trafford, with Wout Weghorst currently leading the line and expected to leave after his loan spell expires at the end of the season.

Edinson Cavani and Cristiano Ronaldo have left the club since Ten Hag took the reigns and coupled with the inactivity of Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial’s inability to stay fit, the United boss has been left short of options at the point of his attack.

Weghorst has plugged a gap, and to his credit has been consistently available and always ready to give his all.

However the big striker is short on the ability required to operate at the highest level and Ten Hag has made an upgrade his number one priority in the market.

Osimhen will certainly provide that. The 24-year-old has lead Napoli’s charge to their first Serie A title in over 30 years.

With 25 goals in all competitions, Osimhen has proven himself at the top level, scoring in both legs of Napoli’s Champions League round-of-16 win to boot.

If United are to convince Osimhen that Manchester is the place for him, fans will be expecting Ten Hag’s men to mount a serious push for the Premier League title next season.

Best, Beckham, Charlton, Scholes - The stomping ground of greats destroyed by The Glazers

George Best, Duncan Edwards, and Sir Bobby Charlton. Ryan Giggs, David Beckham, and Paul Scholes. Legends were grafted at The Cliff.

It was where Sir Matt Busby and Sir Alex Ferguson created their legacies, sculpting the talents that would go onto achieve the unthinkable.

The Cliff may have been replaced by Carrington at the turn of the millennia, but the history of the place is woven into the fabric of Manchester United Football Club.

“If you want to know about the Glazers and what they feel about the club get yourself to The Cliff,” a source told The Daily Mail.

“The place should be a museum, somewhere to be proud of. But it’s had hardly any money spent on it in 20 years and it is falling to bits. It’s shameful and it shows that the Americans do not care.”

The report goes on to describe the bleak outcome of the Glazer’s reign, with the once-great Cliff now falling to desolation.

Surrounded by scaffolding, The Cliff is marred by graffiti on the walls, while the main entrance houses cracked windows and dislodged paving stones.

It was even thought to have been condemned at one point, however that has been denied by Salford council.

“It’s utterly heart-breaking,” another insider told the Daily Mail.

“You read about Old Trafford and all the money that needs to be spent on it, the roof leaking – the real neglect is at The Cliff. This place should be sparkling, looked after forever. It’s not had any investment in years.”

It has been almost twenty years since any money has been spent on The Cliff – The Glazers have most certainly not considered any outlay at any point during their tenure.

Of the many hopes that Manchester United fans will have under a new regime will be that this site will be treated as it should – a vital part of the club’s incredible history.

United star's contract extension "will happen" despite widespread calls to replace him - The Athletic

David de Gea will be given a new contract at Manchester United, according to The Athletic.

The goalkeeper’s current £375,000 per week contract is due to expire in June and United have opted not to trigger a one-year extension on the deal.

That means that either a new contract will be drawn up, or the Spaniard will leave the club for free at the end of the season.

Negotiations on a new deal are underway and the outlet reports that “De Gea has turned down … United’s first offer of a new contract, but at this stage negotiations are expected to reach a positive conclusion.”

They further report that “De Gea … recognises that now, aged 32, he must take a reduction to stay.”

“United have — according to sources speaking on condition of anonymity to protect their positions — made a good proposal, but nonetheless, it is unsatisfactory to De Gea at present,” the report continues.

Despite a number of other outlets claiming that United are shopping around for a replacement who is better suited to manager Erik ten Hag’s style of play, The Athletic says the manager “has come to appreciate De Gea’s worth and is happy for him to be his goalkeeper for future years.”

They further add that the goalkeeping position is not seen as a priority in the transfer market, especially given FFP restrictions.

As was reported here recently, the perception of De Gea being a world-class shot stopper is not borne out by the statistics, which show him as just 13th in the Premier League on the most important metrics. The Athletic support this claim with their own stats.

The report suggests that Brentford’s David Raya, who surpasses his compatriot on almost every measured stat this season, is a good option to replace De Gea. However, it is also noted that “Tony Coton, United’s chief goalkeeping scout, has been scouring Europe for six months and is not yet completely sold on a replacement, especially at the prices being mentioned.”

Dean Henderson, currently on loan at Nottingham Forest, is also under consideration but the feeling of the article is that United will stick with De Gea if he is ready to accept the offer on the table, or close to it.

It seems unlikely that any other club will offer significantly more than United, so at this stage, a new deal, as The Athletic suggests, seems likely.

Defensive crisis looms for Ten Hag as Euro giants enter race for top target - report

Paris Saint-Germain have entered the race to sign Napoli centre-back and Manchester United transfer target, Kim Min-jae.

As reported by Italian media, PSG are hoping to lure the South Korean international to the French capital in the summer.

Min-jae has emerged as one the most coveted defenders on the continent after an outstanding season in Naples.

The centre-back has excelled since his move from from Fenerbache last summer, playing a key role in Napoli’s charge toward their first Serie A title in over 30 years.

Min-jae also enjoyed a strong personal World Cup despite South Korea falling at the round-of-16 phase to tournament favourites, Brazil.

The 26-year-old is now firmly a wanted man, with many top clubs in Europe vying for his signature.

Erik ten Hag is a keen admirer of the defender and would reportedly love to make him part of his Old Trafford revolution.

However, United will have to fend off stiff competition if they are to attract the centre half to Manchester.

Key to the deal could be the reported release clause in Min-jae’s contract, which is believed to allow him to talk to forign clubs (outside of Italy), for a fee of around €50 million.

However, this fee only stands for a two week period, starting on July 1st, ending on the 15th.

Min-jae would provide serious competition to Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez who have forged an excellent partnership at the heart of United’s defence this season.

Additionally, at least one of Harry Maguire or Victor Lindelof are expected to move on in the summer, leaving a gap to be filled in Ten Hag’s squad.

United are expected to be busy in the summer, with hopeful new ownership expected to hand Ten Hag a treasure chest of funds in a bid mount a serious title charge, next season.

United pursuing Bellingham but face three large obstacles - Ben Jacobs

With the summer window fast approaching, the potential suitors for Jude Bellingham are beginning to plot their moves for one of the most coveted talents in world football.

Clubs across Europe are lining up to lure Bellingham away from Dortmund, as the England man looks to choose his perfect club.

Manchester United are one of those clubs hoping that Bellingham sees his future with them, with Erik ten Hag looking to build a side capable of mounting a serious title charge next season.

But as reported by Ben Jacobs in Caughtoffside, United will face stiff competition for the young man’s signature.

Liverpool, Manchester City and Real Madrid are said to be the front-runner’s for Bellingham, with all three desperate to make him their marquee summer signing.

City have Bellingham’s former teammate at Dortmund, Erling Haaland persuading him to join the Blue side of Manchester while Liverpool have reportedly put in months of leg work to tempt the player to come to Merseyside.

Real Madrid have also been in contact with Bellingham’s representatives and the allure of playing for the Champions League holders is always going to provide temptation.

United are thought to be just behind the aforementioned trio in the race, due to the prioritisation of bringing in a world-class centre-forward to spearhead Ten Hag’s attack.

Should United make a move for Bellingham on top of a striker, the funds required would be reaching record-breaking numbers in a single window.

Coupled with the club being in the middle of a potential takeover, it remains unclear as to who will be signing the cheques for United in the summer.

Bellingham will cost north of £100 million, with the player’s contract running until the end of 2025.

Despite Dortmund holding all the cards, its widely expected they will cash in on their star man, rather than see him leave for free at the end of the next campaign.

At 19-years-of age, whoever does manage to get hold of the England international will be getting a generational talent they can confidently build their team around for the next decade and beyond.

United duo set to switch international allegiances after positive talks

Manchester United defensive duo Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Axel Tuanzebe are considering switching their international allegiances from England to DR Congo.

Neither Wan-Bissaka nor Tuanzebe have made a senior competitive appearance for England and so, they could switch allegiances.

Leopard Football Leader via The Mirror reports that the two United stars have already held talks with Congo head coach Sebastien Desabre over the nationality change.

Wan-Bissaka received his first England call-up in 2019 during his first season at Old Trafford. He however had to withdraw after suffering a back injury.

Since then, the 25-year-old has found it extremely hard to be part of Gareth Southgate’s plans and has never received a call-up.

The England boss has shown a clear preference for the likes of Kyle Walker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Reece James and Kieran Trippier.

Like Wan-Bissaka, Tuanzebe, who is currently out on loan with Stoke City, is yet to be capped by the Three Lions and has only played for England’s youth teams.

“It is understood Wan-Bissaka has not ruled out that possibility and could accept the offer from Desabre should Congo qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations in the Ivory Coast.”

“Tuanzebe may switch allegiances in order to have a better chance of gaining regular game time.”

“As he was born in the Congolese city of Bunia, Tuanzebe is eligible to play for the nation and it is thought he is open to the idea of switching from England.”

Congo, who are aiming to qualify for AFCON, already have a core of English-based players.

Brentford’s Yoane Wissa and Luton midfielder Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu are key members of the squad. Should Wan-Bissaka and Tuanzebe make the move they would instantly become integral components within DR Congo’s senior team apparatus.

United starlet gets on the score sheet for national side with fantastic goal

Manchester United forward Anthony Elanga played only three minutes for Sweden in a 5-0 victory against Azerbaijan on Monday.

After suffering a 3-0 defeat against Belgium last Friday, Janne Andersson’s men got back to winning ways in emphatic fashion.

United’s Victor Lindelof played all 90 minutes of the game while Elanga came on in the 87th minute.

The United academy graduate however wasted no time in getting on the score sheet.

He used his blistering pace to split the Azerbaijan defence wide open before rounding off the goalkeeper and putting the ball into the back of the net.

Elanga’s goal was the fifth of the evening for Sweden. It was the 20-year-old’s first for club or country since last summer’s international games.

Elanga spoke to reporters after the game and expressed his delight. He said, “It always feels good to score a goal. I feel good. I have felt good all week.”

“I wanted to show what I can do, even if I only got three or four minutes. I could have scored two goals.”

The goal will undoubtedly bode well for Elanga’s confidence and self-esteem as club football returns.

The youngster has been used sparingly by Erik ten Hag this season – a situation Elanga recently described as frustrating.

Hopefully, a relatively fruitful stint with the national team gives Elanga the spark he needs to get his season with United back on track.

On a number of occasions this season, Erik ten Hag has emphasized the need for a squad where every player contributes. Elanga firmly falls in this category.

"100% sure": Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's break from football set to come to an end

Since being sacked by Manchester United in November 2021, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has enjoyed a quiet life away from the watchful eye of the public.

It was actually on this day, March 28 in 2019 that Solskjaer was confirmed as permanent United boss.

He spent more than two and a half years at the Old Trafford dugout before being relieved of his duties after a poor run of results which saw the Red Devils win once in seven Premier League games last season.

The final straw was a 4-1 loss to Watford.

The Daily Star reports that since he left Old Trafford, Soslkjaer has been a busy man spending time with his family and coaching his son back in Norway.

He has coached his son at the Kristiansund academy. Solskjaer took charge of the under-14s last year and managed them for a number of youth fixtures.

As per The Daily Star, Solskjaer has turned down multiple managerial jobs from English clubs as well as punditry roles.

It was reported last year that the former United striker was approached by a Premier League team but he resisted the temptation to make a sensational return to football.

Solskjaer’s time has also been spent on reviewing what went wrong during his tenure at the Theatre of Dreams.

The 50-year-old has watched all 168 matches he oversaw as United gaffer.

“He has also kept tabs on his former coaches, travelling to Doncaster with Michael Carrick in February last year to watch Kieran McKenna’s Ipswich Town in League One action.”

“Solskjaer returned to United in 2022 as well, watching the women’s under-21 side beat Aston Villa 5-0, with his daughter Karna on the scoresheet. Karna herself has since returned to Norway and now plays in the second tier for AaFK Fortuna.”

The Daily Star warns against ruling out a return to action for Solskjaer. He once admitted, “I’m one hundred per cent sure to create a football environment. That’s where I’m good at and, at some point, I’ll probably be back [working in football]”

Disappointment amongst United fans as key players snubbed from Lionesses

Four Manchester United players have made Sarina Wiegman’s final squad before the World Cup.

Goalkeeper Mary Earps has once again been called up and will surely be Wiegman’s first choice keeper once again.

Hannah Hampton, Sandy MacIver and Ellie Roebuck are her other choices between the sticks, with United’s Emily Ramsay missing out this time.

In defence, Maya Le Tissier finds herself back in the squad, a much deserved call-up.

The 20 year-old has been solid at the back for United all season, putting in some vital blocks and making some good interceptions in the game against West Ham last weekend.

In midfield, Ella Toone cements her place in squad and more then likely in the starting line up. After her heroics as a substitute in the Euros last summer she has proven herself to be someone Wiegman can rely on.

Missing out this time are Katie Zelem and Nikita Parris. Parris has not been at her best for the Reds in recent months but Zelem has been key for United, particularly in set-pieces.

United fans took to social media to share their dismay at their exclusion.

Up front, Alessia Russo is once again picked alongside former Red Lauren James, as well as Chloe Kelly, Rachel Daly, Lauren Hemp, Jess Park and Katie Robinson.

England’s first game of the break is against Brazil on April 6th in the women’s finalissima before they take on Australia in a friendly.

It’ll all be good practice for the Lionesses, who are one of the favourites to win the World Cup, which takes place at the conclusion of the domestic season.

However, it is a good indication as to who Wiegman is thinking of taking to that tournament so Zelem and Parris will have to work hard for the Reds in the last few games of the season to prove themselves to the England coach.

Major update on Rashford's contract negotiations amidst rival's £400k offer

Manchester United are gearing up to accelerate contract talks with Marcus Rashford over a new long-term deal that will keep him at Old Trafford for the foreseeable future.

Rashford, who has scored 27 goals in 44 appearances for the Red Devils this season, is set to have his current terms expire at the end of next season after United triggered a one-year extension in December last year.

According to The Athletic, United are now focusing all their efforts on tying down their star man before the prospect of losing him on a free rears its ugly head.

“Initial discussions between United and Rashford’s representatives have already been held and more are planned, but there have been no major steps forward.”

“Sources on both sides insist these are early days in the process. There is a mutual understanding that this will be the biggest and most important contract of Rashford’s career.”

“The potential sale of United by the Glazer family is not seen as a complicating factor in negotiations with Rashford, nor is the fact United have several key contracts to renegotiate simultaneously.”

Alongside the Englishman, United are also keen to sort out the futures of Fred, Diogo Dalot, Luke Shaw and David de Gea.

The Athletic details that at the moment, De Gea’s situation is the most pressing. The club is trying to negotiate a new contract with the Spaniard on significantly reduced terms from his rumoured £375,000 ($460,000) a week wages.

“Though discussions with De Gea are the most immediate concern, United are looking to press on with Rashford’s contract. Sources with knowledge of the talks, who wished to remain anonymous to protect relationships, expect the pace to pick up in the next few months.”

Club sources insist that there is a lot of goodwill from both sides to arrive at a compromise and there is hope that an agreement can be found.

Mark Critchley and Laurie Whitwell reveal that there have been instances where Rashford has flirted with moving to a new club. His representatives spoke to Barcelona four years ago where a transfer was discussed.

Last summer, talks were held with Paris St Germain and it is believed an offer of more than £400,000 per week was made by the Parisian club.

United were aware of all this and dialogue was kept straightforward and honest. Rashford decided to remain at United however and is even building an eco-friendly home in Cheshire.

Whitwell and Critchley add, “Those close to Rashofrd have talked of the positivity around the club and player and noted just how much Ten Hag has turned things around.”

The next few months as alluded to by The Athletic will prove decisive. As Rashford enters the prime years of his career, it would be unfathomable for him not to be playing in a United shirt beyond next season. For the club, the trick will be to strike a delicate balance between financially rewarding their best player and being careful not to overstretch the wage bill which last season, stood at £384million.

Arnold and Murtough among those facing axe when United takeover complete

Parties interested in completing a takeover of Manchester United and purchasing the club remain hopeful that the process can be completed despite their second bids still falling short of the Glazer family’s expectations.

Last week, prospective buyers were invited by the club to table their proposals to the Raine Group, the merchant bank acting on behalf of the Glazers.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani and Thomas Zilliacus publicly confirmed that they had lodged their bids.

The Peoples Person reported that Zilliacus’ bid was dismissed and he would not proceed to the next stage of the takeover.

ESPN’s Rob Dawson mentions, “The revised bids to buy Manchester United will fall short of the Glazer family’s valuation, although there is still hope a buyout can happen, sources have told ESPN.”

“Sources have told ESPN that bids from Sheikh Jassim and Ratcliffe have been increased from around £4.5 billion but remain below the asking price of around £6bn — although there is hope that the Glazers might still accept a compromise fee to allow a takeover at Old Trafford.”

“United staff have been told to expect “clarity” on the ownership situation by the end of the season.”

Bidders are waiting to hear back from Raine Group. The expectation is that there will be a third round of offers. Less likely is that a preferred bidder will be selected and enter into exclusive talks with the Glazers.

ESPN relays that within Old Trafford it is business as usual although there is a chance that contract extensions for key players could be hampered by the ownership situation.

Players like Marcus Rashford and David de Gea are currently locked in negotiations with the club over longer-term deals.

There are genuine fears that whoever takes over the reins at the Theatre of Dreams will want to make wholesale changes to the structure and top brass.

It is felt that this could derail progress made both on and off the pitch by Erik ten Hag and his coaching staff. Ten Hag enjoys a cordial working relationship with John Murtough, United’s football director.

Alongside Murtough, United chief executive officer Richard Arnold who is also involved in the day-to-day running of the club could be among those who face the axe under new ownership.

Dawson points out that Ten Hag is intent on building on the positive strides that have already been made. For this to happen, the new owners must dip into the market and get the United boss the players he needs.

A number of positions require to be addressed. Chief amongst them is a number nine and a central midfielder.

A goalkeeper could also be acquired and a defender depending on whether or not players like Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof or Aaron Wan-Bissaka exit the club.

United's key man back in training ahead of crunch weekend clash

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is back in training after missing this round of international fixtures through injury.

As reported by the club’s official website, Rashford is back at Carrington for some light training.

United’s top scorer picked up an injury in the 3-1 FA Cup win against Fulham which secured a second trip to Wembley this season, this time to face Brighton and Hove Albion in the semi final.

Rashford was called up by Gareth Southgate for England’s double header against Italy and Ukraine but was forced to withdraw due to the knock.

The forward trained separate to the main group on Monday, with no ball work included in his session.

It remains unclear whether Rashford will be ready for the weekend’s crunch game against Newcastle.

United are just three points ahead of Eddie Howe’s men, who will also be out for revenge after being swept aside in the Carabao Cup final a month ago.

A win would be a huge boost for United’s top four aspirations with a defeat pulling them right back into a dog fright to qualify for the Champions League.

Rashford’s fitness will play a key role in United’s top four push, having been the leading light in Ten Hag’s attack this season.

The 25-year-old has scored 27 goals across all competitions for United this season, leaving him the club’s top scorer by a considerable margin.

Marcus also scored the killer second in United’s cup final win against Newcastle at Wembley.

Erik ten Hag is expected to provide an update on Rashford’s fitness in his press conference, later this week.

Paul Scholes in X-rated rant about Premier League winning manager

Paul Scholes has launched an x-rated rant toward sacked Spurs boss, Antonio Conte.

The Italian manager was relieved of his duties at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium earlier this week.

Conte left in controversial manner, questioning the players attitude and calling out the ambition of the club.

As reported in the Mirror, United legend Scholes took to Instagram to have his say on the sacking, stating Conte should take more responsibility for Tottenham’s poor form rather than blaming others.

“A manager gets sacked so everyone blames recruitment, and a top class manager blames lack of ambition,” said Scholes.

The United legend then said Conte, and other mangers, are happy when they are signing new players only to use them as a scapegoat if things don’t go to plan.

Why don’t any managers say when they’re smiling and shaking hands with a player at their press conference, ‘I don’t like this player, I think [he] will eventually get me the sack’. Saves the same old b—-cks once they are sacked or leave,” he wrote.

Conte has left Spurs in fourth position, one point behind United and two ahead of Newcastle in fifth. However, the London club have played two more games than their top four rivals.

Spurs have also been dumped out of the Champions League and FA Cup in recent weeks, after limp displays against AC Milan and Sheffield United, respectively

The Spurs hierarchy are expected to announce Conte’s replacement shortly and will be hoping a new manager bounce will be enough to sneak them into the coveted top four spots.

Erik ten Hag will be banking on his side making the most of their games in hand to give them a cushion in the race for the Champions League.

United are back in league action this Sunday, with a crunch game at St. James Park their first after the international break.

Rented airbnbs and abusing teammates: the real Mason Greenwood exposed by The Athletic

Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood was earmarked by club staff as one who required specialized attention due to his attitude and behaviour. Compound this with his meteoric rise to the top and it’s no wonder that personnel within Old Trafford felt that he needed a firmer hand.

In a report by The Athletic’s Laurie Whitwell, it seems that Greenwood’s misdemeanours started well before he was charged with attempted rape, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, all relating to the same woman.

Last month, the Crown Prosecution Service confirmed that the case against Greenwood was withdrawn due to the withdrawal of key witnesses and the fact that new evidence came to light. A CPS spokesperson said that there was no longer a realistic prospect of conviction.

The Athletic details that during the COVID-19 pandemic, the United academy graduate repeatedly violated lockdown restrictions. He held regular parties at a rented Airbnb in Salford despite government bans on gatherings.

A neighbour who witnessed and was affected by the parties held by Greenwood once remarked, “The music can go on until 4 am or 5 am, keeping me awake with this deep booming bass. The house shakes and there are loads of raised voices and laughing. One night a group of kids were at the front door shouting: Mason Greenwood, we don’t care who you are. You are a s— footballer. Let us in or we’ll break your legs.”

The police were aware of the incidents but rather than confront Greenwood, chose to take up the matter with the club, urging them to take control of the highly-talented striker. Club staff knew that Greenwood was a hard nut to crack. There had been numerous examples of breaking the rules, including an situation where he sneaked out of his house through the bedroom window to escape the watchful eyes of his parents.

Whitwell says, “United had long been aware Greenwood was a special case. A footballer capable of rare feats on the pitch, he also required particular attention off it.”

A club source stated to the outlet, “It wasn’t an easy ride. The club were protective of him in different ways. He was an asset but they also wanted to help him reach his full potential. He made immature choices, but lots of young players do that, then they grow up a bit.”

Former United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was particularly protective of young Greenwood. The Norwegian shielded him from the media during press conferences and was always quick to dismiss reports of the player’s misbehaviour. However, as per the Athletic, being late at Carrington for Greenwood was a huge concern. He had a problem being consistently on time for his first-team obligations.

The Athletic divulges just how often United clashed with England and the FA over Greenwood’s treatment. The Red Devils felt that he was still not mature enough to be put under the spotlight, but the sentiment within the Three Lions apparatus was that no harm could come from exposing him to a bit of publicity.

Greenwood made his England debut as a 78th-minute substitute in Reykjavik when he came on for Harry Kane. He was not available for selection during the next game, however, due to the now well-documented incident where he and Phil Foden invited girls back to the team hotel after the game. Whitwell claims that manager Gareth Southgate kept Greenwood in his thinking for future England call-ups at that stage, but United persuaded him to resist doing so.

During the goalscorer’s academy days, he did not shy from letting others know he was the big man and undoubtedly the best player on the pitch. Whitwell reports that Greenwood could be unpleasant and critical toward other players. He cites someone close to the academy who said: “he knew he was a good player and was cutting, he wasn’t shy about telling someone they were s—. When you hear that you’d think, ‘Can’t be talking like that.” Whitwell says Greenwood even criticised Cristiano Ronaldo when he was still at Real Madrid, saying “He’s dead,” implying he was finished. “Staff corrected him and considered his mentality that of youthful delusion,” the reporter says.

Whitwell adds, “In 2019, an ill-advised video in which Greenwood used graphic sexual language was posted on social media, causing acute embarrassment for the player and alarming some at United.”

“Under Solskjaer, United had what they considered a protection and education unit around Greenwood, but some staff members felt he required specialist support as a young adult operating under extreme pressure and expected to perform for a world-famous team.”

Greenwood, who is now an expectant father, faces an uncertain future at the Theatre of Dreams. The club is currently conducting an internal investigation into the circumstances surrounding his arrest. The results of the inquiry will determine whether he will be restored to the team or be banished forever. Whitwell mentions that United have rejected multiple loan offers from Turkish clubs for Greenwood’s services.

A source close to the situation says, “He would run through a brick wall to be back playing for United now.”

The Athletic opines, “Some at United even feel he could play for the club again. Going down that path would cause a national moral conundrum and also trigger a sporting debate. Sponsors have privately expressed concerns about a return. Some members of the women’s team would take major issue.”

All eyes are on the Red Devils now. The ball is in their court. Will they reinstate Greenwood at the expense of stirring public fury and backlash, or will they cut ties with one of Carrington’s greatest prospects?
