Chelsea are hoping that Kepa Arrizabalaga’s injury blow isn’t too serious and will not see him endure a lengthy spell on the treatment table.
That is according to injury news journalist Ben Dinnery who has informed GIVEMESPORT of the status regarding the Spanish goalkeeper.
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Dinnery said: “It’s always difficult for goalkeepers because the very nature of the position means they may be able to tolerate injuries a little bit more due to the demands on the outfield players not being as such.
“With it being a foot problem, maybe it’s an issue around kicking or his spring when diving, but it’s not like he is an outfield player, which it would inherently have more of an impact on.
“With regards to that and the fact that he was able to see out the half, you’re certainly hoping it isn’t too serious.”
First-choice Kepa
Ever since Graham Potter first entered the SW6 area, Arrizabalaga has found himself as the first-choice goalkeeper at the club once more, after waiting patiently for a good two seasons.
Under Potter, the 28-year-old’s opportunity to rejuvenate his career finally came, and no sooner after clinching that opportunity did the injury to his foot occur.
The number-1-wearing asset has been a revelation for the Blues and has shown glimpses of the player who rightfully earned his world-record £71million move from Athletic Bilbao in the summer of 2018.
The £150k-per-week star boasts the highest save percentage in the Premier League this season, registering a whopping 81.5%.
For context, Mendy’s highest total in his two Premier League seasons is 70.2%, which ranked him 8th in the league for this metric last season.
Kepa has proven himself once more under Potter and suits his style with his passing range and composure on the ball as a sweeper keeper.
The Blues will be hoping that his injury, sustained in the 4-1 defeat against Brighton, is minor.
