Ten Hag's Man Utd revolution takes its first step, fans should be excited

Manchester United’s chief negotiator Matt Judge resigned earlier today.

He was brought in by the club along with Ed Woodward in 2012, from JP Morgan.

Judge was responsible for transfer negotiations and contract renewals since 2014.

He was described by former United manager Louis van Gaal as Woodward’s right-hand man.

Judge was responsible for sounding out players’ agents and negotiating contracts during transfer season.

He will now not be involved in this summer’s transfer business.

United could see this as a change in direction, and a new step towards modernisation.

The Telegraph report that the club are already working to find a suitable replacement to handle transfer dealings.

After the sacking of the chief scouts Jim Lawlor and Marcel Bout, this is a huge step taken toward structurally changing the club.

It is strategically been led by United’s Director of Football John Murtough, after consulting Ralf Rangnick.

United fans should be excited as the club is finally moving in a positive direction.

The summer of 2022 could be one of the most important in the club’s history, with a massive squad overhaul likely to take place.

Rangnick mentioned that the club would change their strategy of signing marquee players to that of signing young and hungry players willing to improve the team.

United youngsters show resilience to claw back result

Manchester United’s u18s hosted Blackburn Rovers last night at Moss Lane in a fixture which could see them leapfrog the opposition with a victory into third place in the league.

United started hot out the gates with Alejandro Garnacho tearing down the left and working the ball across the edge of the box for it to end with Manni Norkett to strike low but it was saved out for a corner.

In the 8th minute, Kobbie Mainoo got to the byline on the left and his cutback bounced off a Blackburn defender towards the goal but the keeper’s quick reactions were able to tip the ball around the post.

A minute later, Habeeb Ogunneye’s sailed too close to the keeper and looked like a routine catch but the Blackburn man made a meal of it as he dropped the ball and it bounced into the net to give United the lead.

It was all United in the opening 15 minutes and Mainoo looked to add a second when he went on a mazy run into the box with great strength holding off the defenders before laying it off to Norkett but he couldn’t beat the keeper from a wide-angle.

Blackburn drew one back in the 18th minute as their left winger got to the byline and cut back for a side-foot finish from Leonard Duru.

Garnacho looked to immediately respond racing down the left and cutting in before unleashing a strike into the top right corner which was only stopped by an incredibly strong hand from the keeper.
In the 20th minute, Dan Gore slid Omari Forson in down the right and the United midfielder looked to dink the keeper who was caught in no man’s land but an outstretched fingertip sent the ball narrowly wide.
The electrifying pace of the match died down in the latter stages of the half and the score remained 1-1 going into the break.
Early in the second half United put the ball into the back of the net as Sam Murray was played in behind down the left and he squared to Norkett to tap in but the ref’s whistle was quick to blow for offside.

Later in the half substitute, James Nolan crossed to the front post for Norkett to flick on but it flashed across the goal and wide.

In the 81st minute it was another disaster from the keeper but this time it was United’s, Radek Vitek. A chipped cross in from the left should have been easily gathering but Vitek took his eye off the ball and fumbled it through his fingertips and into the goal.

Minutes later Gore burst through two Blackburn defenders and went down on the touch of contact to win a penalty. Forson stepped up and slotted into the bottom right corner to equalise.

The final whistle blew shortly after with the final score 2-2, leaving United in 5th place just the one point behind Blackburn in 3rd.

Due to several cancellations earlier in the season, the u18s are back in action in under 24 hours as they take on Wolves at a lunchtime kick-off on Wednesday.

United: Vitek, Ogunneye (Nolan 61), Bennett, Jackson, Murray, Mainoo, Gore, Forson, Hugill, Garnacho (Berry 61), Norkett

Ronaldo scores first goal against Chelsea as team-mates give up on the season

On Thursday night, Manchester United took an unconvincing draw in the Premier League fixture against Chelsea at home.

The game ended 1-1 despite Chelsea dominating much of the possession.

The opening ten minutes saw half-hearted chances for both sides. Fernandes latched onto a cross but could only head it into the keeper’s arms whilst Havertz toed one wide.

Another chance for the Reds came from a corner but Ronaldo’s overhead kick went high and wide.

The first real chance of the half came for Havertz who was given too much space by the defenders. Luckily, de Gea stood strong, making himself big and blocking Havertz’s shot.

Kai Havertz was causing Manchester United all kinds of problems as he ran in behind the defence and got his shot off again, this time finding the side netting.

It felt like only a matter of time before Chelsea would make the breakthrough as United lacked confidence and conviction.

In the second half, United had turned it up just a notch and pushed forward but they were almost caught out on the counter, Havertz once again at the centre of the drama.

Around the 60 minute mark, the inevitable happened – Chelsea scored.

Reece James, who was having a great game, crossed it in whilst Havertz rose to meet it. His header deflected backwards whilst Alonso took it on the volley and slotted it past de Gea.

The lead was short-lived by the visitors though as two minutes later Ronaldo equalised.

Matic chipped the ball over the defence where Ronaldo was waiting. He controlled it with one touch and his second found the back of the net.

Ronaldo came close again later on in the half but Mendy kept out his near-post strike.

Two minutes later, James rattled the woodwork for Chelsea with a curling shot that had beat de Gea.

The result puts United further away from Champions League football next year as the team has all but given up on the feat.

Team: De Gea, Lindelof, Ronaldo, Rashford (Mata 78), Fernandes, Varane, Dalot, Telles, Matic (Jones 78), Elanga (Garnacho 90), McTominay

United youngsters shine as they are held to draw at Old Trafford

Manchester United’s u23s were in action on the big stage on Friday hosting Arsenal at Old Trafford.

The match kicked off with both sides exchanging fouls in dangerous areas but it was United’s free kick from Noam Emeran which would cause the most trouble as his strike from 30 yards out was destined for the top corner but for a fantastic save from the Arsenal keeper.

United were causing trouble shortly after as Charlie Savage played the ball out from the back for Alvaro Fernandez to drive through the middle and play a lovely through ball for D’Mani Mellor to latch onto. Mellor took the ball down the left side before cutting back onto his right and unleashing a powerful shot that the keeper could only parry into a dangerous area.

An Arsenal defender rushed the clearance with the ball falling to the waiting Charlie Wellens at the edge of the box who struck from 20 yards towards the bottom right corner but the keeper was alert as he made another fantastic save.

The Arsenal keeper was in for a busy afternoon as he was called into question again from Savage’s deflected long range effort which sent him sprawling back towards the goal line to keep out the looping ball.

Arsenal would hit on the counter in the 29th minute with the pace of Kido Taylor-Hart getting past Fernandez and the Arsenal winger’s low shot could only be palmed by Radek Vitek onto the foot of the prowling Mika Miles Biereth to tap into an open net.

The half time break would see the score still 0-1 despite United looking the better side throughout the first half.
Neil Wood’s half time talk worked a treat though as it only took two minutes for United to find the equaliser.

Shola Shoretire picked up the ball in the centre circle and played a defence splitting pass for Emeran coming in from the right who took the ball perfectly in stride and slid the ball through the keeper’s legs.

The roles were reversed minutes later when Emeran dribbled down the right and slipped a square pass into Shoretire at the front post for the midfielder to take a snap shot but Ovie Ejeheri was on hand to make another great save.

A wonderful chance opened up late on for Mellor to grab a deserved winner after Emeran’s deflected shot bounced through to him lurking in behind the backline but the forward couldn’t sort his feet to connect with the ball as it whizzed past and out for a corner.

Arsenal launched one last attack to grab a late winner through the Canadian born Mexican, Marcelo Flores, who danced in from the left before striking low but Vitek was down quick to hold onto the ball.

The final whistle came to mark a 1-1 draw leaving United in fourth place with one match left in the season.

United: Vitek, Wellens, Bennett, Fish, Fernandez, Svidersky (Hansen-Aaroen 71), Savage, Emeran (Mejia 87), Mejbri, Shoretire, Mellor

Unused subs: Wooster, Fredricson, Mainoo

19 year old winger shines amid contract talks

Manchester United’s u23s were held to a 1-1 draw to Arsenal at Old Trafford on Friday night. Here are our player ratings for the match:

(A score of 6 is around average)

Radek Vitek – 6.5 – Wasn’t troubled by Arsenal’s half chances. Could have possibly done better to palm the ball away initially on Arsenal’s goal but it was a difficult save.

Charlie Wellens – 7 – Came close to scoring with a well struck long range effort and was strong defensively stopping Marcelo Flores from getting barely a sniff all night.

Will Fish – 7 – Strong at the back and didn’t give Arsenal much to work with centrally and was very composed on the ball.

Rhys Bennett – 7 – Had one shaky moment on the ball early on but settled in beside Fish and had a good performance.

Alvaro Fernandez – 6.5 – Provided a spark in attack with his driving runs and incisive passing but was troubled defensively by Kido Taylor-Hart’s pace at times and could have been stronger in some challenges.

Martin Svidersky – 7 – Helped control the midfield with his tenacious tackling and kept it simple moving the ball quickly.

Charlie Savage – 7 – Controlled the midfield with his sprayed passes from deep and also looked to get forward and involved around the Arsenal box with some clever touches and quick passes.

Noam Emeran – 8 – The key danger man on the night, Emeran’s pace and movement caused Arsenal all sorts of trouble. Took his really well and could have had a number of assists if he just fine tuned the final pass.

Shola Shoretire – 6.5 – A fantastic pass to grab an assist and a few more bright spots in the second half but was nearly anonymous in the first half.

Hannibal Mejbri – 6 – Had to settle for only flashes of moments as he struggled to make meaningful contributions. Ran down alleys and lost possession when trying to force it and was better off keeping it simple.

D’Mani Mellor – 7.5 – As hard working as ever with his relentless pressing and stretched the backline with his movement and runs in behind. Could have walked away with a goal or two on another day.

Substitutes

Isak Hansen-Aaroen – 6 – Some clever touches down the left wing and moved the ball well but didn’t have a lot of time to make a large impact.

Mateo Mejia – N/A – Didn’t play long enough to make an impact.

Man Utd could go against Ten Hag's wishes by extending star player's contract

Manchester United are exploring the possibility of extending David De Gea‘s contract.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the club want to tie down their goalkeeper on a long-term deal.

De Gea is currently the second-highest paid player at the club, earning £375,000 per week, just behind Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Spaniard has been back to his best this season, saving United on multiple occasions.

His world class saves have earned his team plenty of points.

There has however been criticism from a section of the fanbase regarding his ability on the ball.

Some believe that United are held back in their build-up play due to the goalkeeper’s lack of capability to pass.

ESPN‘s Rob Dawson also reports that new manager Erik ten Hag has concerns regarding De Gea’s suitability to his system.

The Dutchman’s gameplay revolves around keeping control in possession – something which starts from the back.

United are not expected to address the goalkeeping situation this summer due to other priorities.

It will be fascinating to see how De Gea adapts to Ten Hag’s style of play.

If United are looking at future goalkeeping options, then there are quite a few notable candidates they could go for.

Genk’s Maarten Vandervordt and Saint Etienne’s Stefan Bajic are two great options, with high potential.

Final blow: Rangnick confirms this Man Utd star will leave this summer

0
Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has confirmed the speculation surrounding Paul Pogba‘s future at the club.

In his pre-match press conference ahead of the game against Arsenal, Rangnick spoke about Pogba’s contract situation and said that he does not expect a renewal as of now.

“He [Pogba] won’t be available for the game tomorrow and most likely not for the other four upcoming games.”

“And as it seems right now, he will not renew his contract. It’s most likely that he won’t be here anymore next season.”

Pogba was substituted after 25 minutes against Liverpool at Old Trafford due to an injury.

Many believed that he had already checked out of the club, especially after being booed by fans in the previous game.

The 29 year old has had a mixed career at United.

On his day, he has shown the capability to be the best midfielder in the world, but his inconsistency has been a cause of complain by many.

Pogba is a player that divides opinion among United fans and many feel that it is best to part ways and move on.

Rangnick’s honesty in this situation is quite refreshing and gives good clarity to us fans who can easily gauge the ongoing situation at the club.

The club can now look at midfield options in the transfer market.

United will miss Pogba’s quality in the centre of the park and will need to replace him this summer.

Last second overhead kick inches from snatching points for United youngsters - Match Report

Manchester United’s first team were not the only side in action on Tuesday night as the u18s hosted Burnley at Moss Lane.

Getting a rare treat of playing in a stadium, it was the visitor’s who would test the goal first with an early shot from Lucas Wane that was saved by Eric Hanbury.

United looked to trouble with efforts from Sam Murray and Omari Forson in quick succession but neither could find the net.

The deadlock was broken in the 24th minute through an unbelievable long range effort from Dane McCullough to give Burnley the lead as his powerful strike found the bottom corner from 35 yards out.

United responded with a dangerous free kick from Sam Mather being tipped over the bar.

Ethan Ennis thought he had the equaliser when the ball fell to him six yards out but the winger struck wide.

The score remained 0-1 going into the second half and Burnley tested Hanbury early on again as he saved the effort from Joe Smyth-Ferguson.

Ennis was causing trouble again later on but had left his shooting boots at home striking wide again.

Burnley almost doubled their lead in the 67th minute through Kade Ratchford who found himself some space and snapped a shot off.

United fought until the dying seconds for the equaliser coming within inches as Forson struck the post with an audacious overhead kick before Manni Norkett was denied on the rebound by a fantastic save.

The ball was finally bundled into the net but it wouldn’t stand as a foul was committed on the Burnley keeper.
The defeat sees United’s u18s remain in fourth place with five matches left in the season.

United: Hanbury, Jurado, Bennett, Aljofree, Murray, Oyedele (Gore 70), Hansen-Aarøen, Forson, Mather, Hugill (McNeill 64), Ennis (Norkett 70)

19 year old agrees contract extension with European loan on the cards

Manchester United winger Noam Emeran is reportedly close to signing a contract extension and has already agreed terms according to the MEN.

The 19 year old joined Manchester United in 2019 from Amiens and has recently been playing for the u23s after returning from a lengthy injury.

Upon the extension of his deal, it is expected that Emeran will leave Old Trafford on loan with interest from clubs across Europe.

The MEN says he “is set to be rewarded with a new two-year deal, which will also include the option for an additional year as a reward for his steady development for the club at youth level.”

Having been training with the first team during the international break, it is believed that a loan move for first team football is the next step for the French winger.

French outlet Foot Mercato have reported that the youngster is garnering interest from German clubs Werder Bremen and Augsburg, as well as Nantes in his native France.

Having struggled with injuries throughout his three year spell at United so far, the winger has made 12 appearances this season for the u23s, notching a goal and two assists.

A rangy winger, his gangly legs lead to an unorthodox but effective dribbling style which can be likened to Yannick Bolasie in terms of style.

Turning 20 in September, a loan move is likely the best move for the youngster’s development, although despite the interest from Bundesliga and Ligue 1 clubs, a lower level move may be more wise in order to secure regular playing time which will be vital after his time lost with injuries.

The world of professional football is no stranger to the Emeran family though as his father, Fritz Emeran, is a former Rwandan international who had a long career in France, Belgium and the Netherlands.

With such close guidance, it is no wonder that the young player has his head firmly on his shoulders saying “my ambition is to be able to be professionally one day and to win titles, but school remains the most important thing for now If there is no school, there is no football.”

With his mentality in check and having plenty of talent, it will be an exciting year for the youngster as he makes up for lost time with a loan move.

United set to refresh their defence this summer in bid to bring back titles

Manchester United intend to target a new centre-back this summer as they look to refresh their options at the back.

It has been a difficult season for the defence this season as they’ve failed to keep clean sheets consistently.

This has been a problem dating back a couple of seasons now for Man United despite signing multiple options at the back.

Aaron Wan Bissaka, Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane have been added to the list of defensive options in recent years but conceding goals is still a huge issue.

According to the Manchester Evening News, a new centre-back back is on the list of options for next season with United already contacting Antonio Rudiger’s representatives.

While a move to Manchester for the German is looking unlikely at this stage, it is good to see the club is exploring multiple options including a current Champions League champion.

Eric Bailly and Phil Jones are likely to exit the club at the end of the season.

The Ivory Coast star was given a new contract last season with the expectation he would participate in more games.

However, this isn’t the case with the centre-back not featuring under Ralf Rangnick’s interim spell.

Before Varane was signed last summer, previous transfer target Pau Torres was touted around as a possible alternative.

This season, the Spanish international has been even more impressive helping Villarreal reach the semi-finals of the Champions League.

The outlet concludes by mentioning that Axel Tuanzebe could also leave the club after two poor loan spells with Napoli and Aston Villa.

Man United let bitter rivals go top of the table after dismal performance

Manchester United have suffered another embarrassing defeat against bitter rivals, Liverpool, as they lose 4-0 at Anfield.

The opening few minutes felt like pinball with both sets of players exhibiting scrappy passing but which side would pay the price first?

It was United who found themselves behind after just five minutes. The defence fell apart and Liverpool exploited that weakness with Mo Salah setting up Luis Diaz who tapped it past de Gea.

In the seventh minute of the game, both sets of fans stood in solidarity for Cristiano Ronaldo and his family after the passing of his newborn baby boy, it was a touch of class in a fixture that is so often hostile between the two sides.

United were on the ropes, they couldn’t pull themselves together and find a way back into the game as Liverpool dominated possession and attacks.

United’s misery was further compounded in the 22nd minute as Salah this time found the target. Though the pass from Mane was innovative, United once again put up no fight.

Phil Jones who made just his second appearance for The Reds this season made a couple of good clearances but he looked exhausted after half an hour as the rest of his teammates didn’t break a sweat.

A rare chance came for United as Marcus Rashford ran in behind Liverpool’s defence but he failed to control the long pass and it fell kindly for Alisson.

The second half got underway and the United fans tried to rally behind their team. The team responded with a more energetic display. Rashford put Alisson under pressure and forced a hasty clearance.

Sancho had made a difference, injecting pace and it was he who had the first shot on goal for United but it was easily saved by Alisson.

However, just as United were beginning to grow into the game, Sadio Mane made it three, burying a shot into the bottom corner.

In the closing ten minutes, Salah bagged himself another as he found himself through on goal.

It was a youngster and late substitute Mejbri who showed the most passion of the team as he made a few challenges and put Liverpool under pressure – the only bit of hope in United’s dismal performance.

Team: De Gea, Lindelof, Maguire, Jones (Sancho 45), Pogba (Lingard 10), Rashford, Fernandes, Dalot, Wan-Bissaka, Matic, Elanga (Mejbri 84)

'Too easy': Liverpool star reveals why Man Utd are so bad

Manchester United were once again embarrassed by Liverpool at Anfield, losing 4-0.

Mohamed Salah scored a brace, with Sadio Mane and Luis Diaz netting the other two, in what was a dominant display by the home side.

United could not get hold of the ball in the first half, and their weaknesses were exposed by Jurgen Klopp’s side.

For the first 10-15 minutes of the second half, United looked half decent before conceding another sloppy goal.

Ralf Rangnick’s reaction to the third goal summed up his overall feeling, frustrating.

After the match, Salah was asked why his record against Man Utd was so good.

He replied: “They make our life easier in the midfield and the back.”

This is a damning assessment by a rival play and highlights just how poor United’s midfield is.

Time and time again United have been overrun in the centre of the park by teams inferior to them in quality.

Tonight’s midfield of Nemanja Matic, Jesse Lingard and Bruno Fernandes were completely destroyed by Liverpool’s midfield trio.

The amount of space left for Klopp’s side to exploit was embarrassing.

Thiago was colossal in the middle and controlled the entire game.

United have now been demolished both home and away this season by their biggest rivals.

It cannot get any worse for a United fan.

Rangnick could unleash this Man Utd star as a surprise weapon against Liverpool

Cristiano Ronaldo is set to miss Manchester United’s game tonight against Liverpool.

Last night we were made aware of the heartbreaking news regarding the passing away of his newborn son.

Ronaldo took to his social media with a statement from him and his partner Georgina Rodriguez.

The club today confirmed that the Portuguese would not be playing the Liverpool match.

They stated on their official website: “Family is more important than everything and Ronaldo is supporting his loved ones at this immensely difficult time.”

“As such, we can confirm that he will not feature in the match against Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday evening and we underline the family’s request for privacy.”

“Cristiano, we are all thinking of you and sending strength to the family.”

Ralf Rangnick will now have to make do without an out and out striker for tonight’s clash.

With Edinson Cavani injured, Rangnick might look to play Marcus Rashford down the middle.

The Englishman has struggled to find any rhythm this season and has been replaced by youngster Anthony Elanga in the starting eleven.

Rangnick could help rediscover Rashford’s form by starting him up front alongside Jadon Sancho and Elanga.

Liverpool are expected to have the majority of the ball, but this front three has the capability of hurting the home side on the break.

Bruno Fernandes generally has great chemistry with Rashford on the pitch and his quick through balls could set Rashford in behind the Liverpool defence.

If the 24 year old does perform well, he could regain the trust and support of United fans who have been extremely critical of him throughout this campaign.

Rangnick's transfer comments should excite Man Utd fans

Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick is planning for a complete squad overhaul this summer.

Speaking to SkySports, Rangnick stated the importance of developing the team concerning the way the new manager wants to play football.

From day one, Rangnick has been very clear on the idea that every player United buys must fit well into the ethos of the manager.

For instance, Sadio Mane would not suit a team like Manchester City whose entire game relies on possession.

However, he fits in perfectly well at Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

In the same way, Rangnick first wants to know how the new manager wants his team to play and United can then start planning accordingly.

According to him, the squad is lacking in many areas of the pitch.

He said: “It’s not enough to bring in three or four new players.”

“It will be more, bearing in mind how many players will no longer be here [out of contract].”

“Apart from goalkeeping, we need to improve the squad in all areas.”

“Of course, it’s important to know who will be the new manager, because to start the recruitment process, to find the best possible players only makes sense if you know who will be the manager and how does he want to play.”

Done deal: Romano confirms Ten Hag to Man Utd

Manchester United are close to announcing Erik ten Hag as their new permanent manager.

As per Fabrizio Romano, the Dutchman is set to take over the English giants, with an official statement expected soon.

The two parties are still negotiating the final terms of the contract.

Ten Hag will either sign a four-year deal up to 2026 or a three-year deal with an option to extend for a further year.

The 52 year old had a few demands before taking over – mainly control over incomings and outgoings in the transfer market.

It is understood that the club have agreed to grant him full power in making transfer decisions to suit his style of play.

He does not want to repeat the same mistakes United have been committing since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson.

Ten Hag is still finalising his assistant manager, with Mitchell Van der Gaag the favourite for the position.

Steve McClaren is another name mentioned for this role.

The club look at him as an experienced coach to guide Ten Hag in his first stint in the Premier League.

United are in discussion with Ajax regarding Ten Hag’s release clause, which is said to be in the region of €2 million.

The official announcement won’t be made until after the game against Liverpool tomorrow night.

Huge blow: Man Utd's weakness to get exposed against Liverpool with this star player missing

Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has provided an update on the squad facing Liverpool tomorrow.

It’s not a good look for United, who are expected to miss Raphael Varane, Edinson Cavani, Fred and Scott McTominay due to injury.

Rangnick’s side is bereft of options in midfield and will have to somehow make do with a new tactic tomorrow.

Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic look likely to start in midfield, with Bruno Fernandes in an advanced role.

In his press conference, Rangnick stated: “He [Varane] was on the pitch with one of our rehab coaches. With regard to the injured players, it’s the same situation.”

Bruno was involved in a car accident today but is likely to play tomorrow’s game.

“Yes, he was training with the team – obviously the accident happened on the way to Carrington.”

“As far as I know, no one was injured. He was ok and he’ll be ok for tomorrow.”

The Man Utd squad’s mentality will be put to test tomorrow at a hostile Anfield.

The home side are locked in a relentless title race with Manchester City and United have a chance to put a dent in their hopes.

Rangnick spoke about the need to be more aggressive, especially against an opponent like Liverpool if his side want to come out with a result tomorrow.

“For sure, we need to be more compact, more aggressive, more on the front foot but still make sure we have all the players behind the ball.”

“Although we might be the underdogs for most people, we still know that if we raise our level, if we play a top performance, then we have a chance to get three points. This will be our ambition and goal for tomorrow.”

Man United could launch bid for perfect Pogba replacement - report

Manchester United transfer target Sergej Milinković-Savić could move to the club depending on what happens with Paul Pogba.

For a couple of months, the future of the Serbian midfielder has been discussed with the possibility of a move to the Premier League this summer.

The Lazio star has been very impressive for his club and international team with many of the top European clubs constantly scouting him.

He has participated in a total of 42 games this season scoring nine and assisting in 10 goals during that process.

The midfielder prefers the central midfielder role but can also play a more attacking role suiting the flexibility within the current squad.

This is similar to how Pogba has operated throughout his spell for the Red Devils.

Man United are set to completely refresh their midfield with Nemanja Matic confirmed to be leaving at the end of the season.

Paul Pogba is also out of contract but an exit isn’t official yet with a new deal a possibility.

The arrival of a number of midfielders during the upcoming transfer window seems inevitable and Milinković-Savić could be a perfect option.

According to Get Italian Football News, the Serbian international will become a vital target if Pogba leaves for another club.

The midfielder currently dreams of a move to Juventus but is being linked with other clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain.

The outlet reports that United are currently keeping tabs on the situation.

United fans will be hoping that a midfielder as talented as Sergej Milinković-Savić will join the club this summer.

Rangnick mentions game changing way of how Man Utd can copy Liverpool's success

Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick highlighted what his side need to do to get anything out of Tuesday’s Premier League clash against Liverpool.

The Merseyside club are in an intense title with Manchester City and  they will be determined to push until the very end.

Rangnick is wary of Liverpool’s threat and stated:

“We have to go to Liverpool and just get anything out of that game.”

“If possible, we need three points. That can happen in football, it has happened before but we have to be realistic.”

“We have to play a lot better in possession of the ball.”

“If we play like that like we played today [vs Norwich] it will be very difficult to get even a point out of the next game.”

“This is what we have to be realistically aware of.”

He went on to compared the two clubs with respect to style of play.

Rangnick’s Red Bull clubs adopted a similar pressing tactic as Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Players like Sadio Mane were bought in from these clubs.

Rangnick goes on to state: “They [Liverpool] are good, they are extremely good.”

“It’s no coincidence that they’re as good as they are — six or seven of those players used to be my/our players when we signed them for our clubs when nobody knew them.”

“It’s no coincidence that this is probably the club with the highest number of players from our former clubs because their approach, their style of football, the way they want to play is pretty similar.”

Manchester United really do have the greatest goalscorer of all time

Manchester United have beaten Norwich at home in a hard fought game that could be crucial in the race for top four.

With rivals Tottenham and Arsenal both losing, United had a chance to capitalise on their misfortune but they almost threw it away.

As the fans slowly filtered in following the protests against the Glazers, the game got under way with Lingard making some good runs and passes forward in the opening two minutes.

At the other end Pukki had a chance within the opening three minutes. He made a good run and took it first time, but de Gea had come out and made himself really big, saving United from an early deficit.

Elanga controlled the ball well in the box and got a difficult shot away over his head but it lacked power and found Krul’s gloves.

However, in the 8th minute Norwich decided to play out from the back but Elanga put pressure on the defenders and stole it from the feet of Gibson in his own area. He passed it to Ronaldo who was waiting in the middle and he powered it into the open goal.

Norwich tried to get straight back into it, having a good spell of possession in their attacking half.

Lingard, who was enjoying a rare start under Rangnick, was involved in everything positive that United did.

It was end to end stuff as guarding the edge of United’s box, Pogba intercepted the ball and launched a counter attack, playing in Elanga who had made a great run.

United stayed hungry with Lingard getting a shot away only to be denied by a brilliant save from Krul. The subsequent corner was delivered into the box by Telles and it was Ronaldo once again who rose above the rest to head it into the back of the goal.

But The Canaries weren’t down and out as they looked to launch a comeback beginning with a free kick just outside the box however it was off target and didn’t trouble de Gea.

On the stroke of half time they got one back, Pukki with the pass across the penalty area where Dowell was waiting to nod it in past de Gea.

The second half got under way with Ronaldo in search of his 50th club hat-trick and Lingard still with a point to prove.

For all their positive work going forward, it was all undone in one swift move from Norwich. A perfectly timed pass allowed Pukki through on goal and he calmly slotted it past de Gea.

Rasica thought he’d got Norwich’s third moments later with a lovely strike but somehow de Gea got down to it to push it just wide of the post.

United were taking too long on the ball and couldn’t get their shots away.

When it looked like United were on the back foot, Elanga won a free kick in a dangerous area. Cristiano Ronaldo stepped up to take it with one thing on his mind! He unleashed a rocket of a shot which Krul got two hands to but such was the power that he couldn’t keep it out. Ronaldo had done it, his 50th club hat trick!

United were rejuvenated, Mata making a huge difference since he came onto the pitch was creating chances for the forwards.

Norwich were knocking on the door towards the end but United held on to clinch the three points, with Ronaldo taking the match ball.

Team: de Gea, Dalot, Telles (Mata 74), Maguire, Lindelof, Pogba (Rashford 74), Lingard (Matic 64), Elanga, Fernandes, Sancho, Ronaldo

'Unacceptable': Rangnick blasts his Man Utd team for embarrassing stat v Everton

Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has questioned his side’s lack of energy in their defeat against Everton last week.

In his pre-match press conference for the game against Norwich City, Rangnick spoke about how his side is not competing physically with the best teams in the Premier League.

He stated: “We’re fully aware and I think we all agree that this is the league in Europe with the highest level of intensity and physicality.”

“That is why I was very disappointed about the game against Everton.”

“We were second best in all those relevant statistics.”

“This is just not acceptable, and this should not happen again anymore.”

“No matter against which team that we play, we are second best in all those relevant areas of the game.”

Rangnick will be disappointed with his side’s lack of intensity, especially since his philosophy is about pressing and quick transitions.

Scott McTominay and Fred are set to miss today’s clash due to injury, leaving United nothing to choose from in midfield.

Nemanja Matic becomes an automatic starter, with Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes.

Despite a poor run of results, United must pick themselves up and aim for a strong finish to the season.

With seven games still left to play in the season, Arsenal and Tottenham could drop points and the Red Devils must capitalise to secure Champions League qualification.

On hold: Why Man Utd are not negotiating transfers until Ten Hag is appointed

Manchester United will wait until Erik ten Hag has been appointed as manager before advancing on any future transfers.

It is fully expected that the squad will undergo a clear-out and will be refreshed under the new manager.

Many of the fringe players remain unhappy and want to leave the club in the upcoming months.

According to the Manchester Evening News, despite multiple scouting missions, negotiations will not advance until the Dutch manager has finally been appointed.

It is expected that an announcement will take place after this weekend’s KNVB Cup final.

Man United are currently in the market for multiple players as they look to finally find players for key positions that need filling.

Defensive midfielder Kalvin Phillips has been touted around as a possible transfer target in recent weeks.

Forward Christopher Nkunku has also been heavily linked to the club after impressing for RB Leipzig this season.

Negotiations will not advance for the next couple of weeks while the club speak to Ajax about transferring their manager to United.

A full-back, centre-back and a backup goalkeeper could also be filled this summer with Ten Hag coming in.

The outlet reports that the incoming United manager will still have the option to veto transfer targets.

The club finalised transfer targets in January with Matt Judge starting to negotiate.

Football director John Murtough has also been busy with transfers but in recent weeks has been focused on interviewing the next manager alongside Darren Fletcher.

United fans will be looking forward to the summer and will be hoping for plenty of incomings and outgoings.

Man Utd to make shock move for elite Spanish defender - report

Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Villarreal CF centre back Pau Torres this summer.

According to sports writer Alex Turk (BBC), there have been growing murmurs about United’s admiration for the Spanish defender, especially after his fantastic display in the Champions League.

On Twitter, Turk went on to state:

“VERY interesting growing murmurs about this handsome fella tonight… One to watch. Closely.”

From the look of things, nothing’s too close and it will likely be categorically denied until the season’s finished.”

“But plenty of folks at United preferred him over Varane and he’s 100% still being watched given the club’s inevitable pursuit of a CB this summer.”

If the story is true, then United will be looking at the perfect partner for Raphael Varane in defence.

The club have been on the lookout for a left-footed centre back before going for the Frenchman last summer.

Torres is having a stellar campaign with Villarreal who knocked out Juventus and Bayern Munich to reach the semi finals of the UEFA Champions League.

The 25 year old is good on the ball, and would solve United’s issue of building out from the back.

He would fit in well with Erik ten Hag’ possession based system.

Moreover, his physical profile would almost guarantee success in the Premier League.

United should be all over this signing, with him being an instant upgrade on Harry Maguire.

Man Utd star will leave this summer, club have to get replacement in - report

Nemanja Matic is set to leave Manchester United this summer.

According to Jonathan Shrager, as it stands, the Serbian midfielder will be one of the departures from Old Trafford.

Matic was signed from Chelsea for around £40 million in the summer of 2017.

Former manager Jose Mourinho was a keen admirer of the player and was confident of him being part of a successful United team.

Sadly for Matic, things haven’t quite worked out and his treatment after Mourinho’s sacking has been nothing short of disrespectful.

United are bereft of options in midfield and Matic is the only natural defensive midfielder at the club.

Despite this, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has persisted in playing the likes of Fred and Scott McTominay for their energy and tenacity, often compromising quality on the ball.

This has led to United struggling in possession, with the inability of the midfielders to dictate tempo from midfield.

Matic has always been secure on the ball and his line-breaking passes automatically set up dangerous attacks for the forward players.

On the flip side,  over the past two seasons, the Serbian has struggled to finish the entire 90 minutes and is often substituted quite early in the game.

His lack of agility sometimes results in him losing his man, or him getting outrun by a younger tenacious midfielder.

The club have decided that it is time to move on.

It is imperative for United to find a viable replacement for Matic, as it is one of the most important positions in the team.

The three positions Man Utd will strengthen this summer - report

Manchester United have identified key areas to target this summer transfer window.

According to The Athletic, United will be looking at a striker, two midfielders and a right winger and have already informed the agents.

With Erik ten Hag set to become permanent manager, United will need a complete squad overhaul in the summer.

Ralf Rangnick has previously mentioned the need for United to go for naturally physical players.

After the 1-1 draw against Leicester City, he said:

‘It also has to be a little bit in the DNA of a player.”

“It is difficult to change a technically great player into a physical, aggressive player and we have a lot of technical players.”

“On a day when our game is fluid and we are in our rhythm we have shown in the past we can outplay other teams but today was difficult.”

“Leicester were aggressive and physical in many parts of the game, we had problems with them. It is difficult to change.”

“I do not think it is to do with mindset, it is to do with the DNA of players.”

Keeping that in mind United could look at a bunch of players to fit that profile.

Darwin Nunez has been heavily linked with United, with the club keeping tabs on his situation.

In midfield, Declan Rice, Kalvin Phillips, Yves Bissouma and Aurelien Tchouameni are the names being mentioned in the media.

Anthony is another exciting young winger linked to United. Ten Hag is a keen admirer of the Brazilian and often starts him in his current Ajax team.

It will be difficult to get all the necessary targets, but United must try their level best to fill all the weaknesses in the squad.

Man Utd must get top four or their transfer dreams are in tatters - report

Manchester United could be dealt a huge blow if they fail to qualify for the Champions League.

According to The Daily Mail, the Red Devils’ transfer budget could be reduced to a mere £20 million.

This could prove to be catastrophic, especially in a summer a massive overhaul is required.

Plenty of players are expected to leave the club and the club will need viable replacements.

Moreover, the arrival of Erik ten Hag means he will require a certain calibre of player in the transfer market.

Failure to get him his preferred targets would set United back another season.

On a positive note, Man Utd do tend to spend more when they are out of the Champions League.

In the 2016 summer, the club signed high-profile names like Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s first transfer window saw United splurging £145 million on Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James.

Fans will be hoping that the new manager gets the same level of backing as his predecessors no matter the competition United find themselves in.

Man Utd currently sit in seventh place in the Premier League – six points of Tottenham Hotspur in fourth.

Ralf Rangnick will be trying his best to get a tune out of this side to make a last push for Champions League qualification.

United face dilemma as squad reacts to midfielder's bizarre contract offer

Manchester United are facing huge amounts of backlash from the squad after offering to make Paul Pogba the highest-paid Premier League player ever.

The French international is fully expected to leave at the end of this season after the club failed to agree on a new deal.

It marks Pogba’s second time leaving Man United on a free transfer as he did in 2012 to join Juventus.

The midfielder has been a crucial part of the squad in recent seasons but has become a problem in the last couple of weeks with his current form.

According to the Mirror, the latest offer is said to have angered the dressing room with Pogba’s teammates angry that they’re willing to make him the highest-paid player.

United have offered him a new deal worth a whopping £500,000 per week. This will be a £400,000 per week deal with add-ons taking it up to the half a million mark.

Many players are annoyed over the fact the midfielder doesn’t play all the time and isn’t in the best of form.

The outlet reports that someone commented, “some of the players think it’s out of order he could be getting twice as much as they’re when he hardly starts a game and talks about leaving all the time”.

It has become a real cause of concern now that this has put a rift between the players in the dressing room.

Pogba has just turned 29 and isn’t showing a lot of interest in staying with Paris Saint-Germain the likely next destination.

Cristiano Ronaldo is the club’s current highest earner, receiving £450,000 a week followed by David de Gea at just £375,000 a week.

United fans will be hoping that the dressing room stays intact after the recent drop in morale and will be wishing the best for Pogba if he leaves this summer.

More than a goal a game teenage sensation banging on the door for United

Manchester United’s u18s were in action yesterday as they hosted Wolverhampton Wanderers at Carrington.

United got off to a slow start, struggling to deal with the physicality of Wolves but started to get a foothold after the opening 15 minutes.

It was an even encounter for most of the first half and took until the 43rd minute for Ethan Ennis to break the deadlock for United.

Logan Pye played Omari Forson down the line who laid it off for Ennis to cut in from the left and dribble across the top of the box before reversing a shot into the bottom left corner.

The second half saw Wolves come flying out of the gates with a ball fizzed across the face of the goal just seconds after the restart but no one was following in for the tap in.

United came out hot as well though and struck again within the minute. Charlie McNeill played a fabulous through ball through the centre of the Wolves defence for Joe Hugill to run in behind and strike past the keeper to make it 12 goals in 11 in the league this season.

McNeill had an opportunity of his own to score in the 57th minute when Forson found him open on the right side of the box but he dragged his shot across and wide of the left post.

A cross from Sam Murray found a lurking Manni Norkett at the back post and the backpedalling forward just about got his head on it to send a looping ball back towards goal forcing the keeper into a finger tip save over the bar.

United were in full stride in the second half as the chances were flowing and another opened for Sam Mather this time as Norkett got to the byline and cut back for the midfielder who was denied by a fantastic save as the keeper got down quickly.

In the 74th minute, Norkett was played in on the left by Mather and a strong challenge came across and wiped the forward out to win United a penalty.

Immediately jumping back to his feet and racing to get the ball, Norkett wasn’t letting anyone else take the spot kick. But despite sending the keeper the wrong way, his shot clipped the outside of the right post and out.

Wolves did look to threaten late on with a surging charge from the pacey Tyler Roberts but he couldn’t find the composure, in the end, to keep his shot on target.

United: Hanbury, Pye, Jurado, Aljofree, Murray, Oyedele, Forson, Mather, Ennis (Hansen-Aaroen), McNeill (Norkett 60), Hugill

Unused subs: Polakowski

Ten Hag has already decided who he wants as his assistant at United - report

Erik ten Hag is all set to be Manchester United’s new permanent manager.

As reported yesterday, the Dutchman has verbally agreed to take over at Old Trafford on a four-year deal.

United are said to have fought off interest from RB Leipzig and have convinced the Dutchman to join.

He was reportedly chosen as the preferred candidate weeks ago and was later approved by Chairman Joel Glazer and Chief Executive Richard Arnold.

The Times now claim that Ten Hag wants certain assurances regarding transfer decisions in the club.

Over the past few years, Man Utd have spent recklessly and wasted tons of money on players that don’t fit the system or are simply not good enough.

The 52 year old will be looking to change that and implement his own philosophy at United.

He wants to bring his current assistant Mitchell van der Gaag with him to United.

Other names mentioned are Robin van Persie and Steve McClaren, who both could be valuable additions to his coaching staff.

After Ajax’s win over Sparta Rotterdam, Ten Hag was asked about being linked with the United job.

He replied: “We are busy with training and with the matches.”

“That way you keep the focus on it.”

“I want to talk about the game and not about other things and whether or not I’ve had conversations. I won’t comment on rumours.”

The official announcement is expected to take place anytime after the KNVB Cup final on Sunday.

Done deal: Ornstein confirms Ten Hag to United deal is agreed

Manchester United have agreed to a deal in principle with Erik ten Hag to become the new permanent manager.

According to The Athletic, United have reached a verbal agreement with the Dutchman to join on a four-year deal.

United still have to negotiate with Ajax but are expected to get the deal over the line.

The two clubs share a good relationship which will make things much smoother.

Ten Hag’s coaching staff too is soon set to be finalised.

United have been conducting detailed research on their next manager since the beginning of March and seems to have finally come to a definite conclusion.

Ten Hag’s Ajax side is currently sitting top of the Eredivisie table and are set to play the KNVB Cup final this Sunday.

An official announcement might have to wait as United will not want to disrupt Ajax’s current campaign.

Man Utd fans will be over the moon with this appointment.

Ten Hag is one of the most exciting coaches in the world and is ready to take the next step in his career.

One of the most refreshing aspects of this deal is the fact that the 52 year wants control over the club’s transfer activity and is determined to rebuild Man Utd in his way.

This looks like the beginning of a new era at Old Trafford!

Man Utd have already identified their main target this summer who could replace Ronaldo

Manchester United have begun planning recruitment for the upcoming transfer window.

According to Sky Sports journalist, Florian Plattenburg, the Red Devils are looking at a striker as their main transfer target.

The other position United want to strengthen is the midfield, with the club specifically looking at players of the profile of Nemanja Matic.

He states: “Main target is a new striker next to Ronaldo.”

“The club is also looking for a central midfielder. The new one is said to have a similar physique and size as Matic. Haidara from Leipzig is no topic. Too small.”

The club are still awaiting Erik ten Hag’s final decision regarding the managerial job.

The Dutchman is said to be the favourite to take over at Old Trafford but wants certain assurances before accepting United’s proposal.

He wants control over transfer incoming and outgoings to avoid repeating mistakes of the past.

If and when Ten Hag does become Man Utd manager he will be looking to address the striker situation and might want a player to partner Cristiano Ronaldo.

United have been linked with SL Benfica’s Darwin Nunez.

The 22 year old is one of the most exciting young strikers across Europe and has attracted interest from other top clubs like Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.

For a reported fee of £80 million, he won’t be cheap but could turn out to be United’s number nine for years to come.

Man United must sign a goalscoring sensation but it won't be this one

Manchester United target Erling Haaland has dismissed interest from the club amid a possible transfer this summer.

For a couple of seasons now, it has been clear that the Norweigan striker has been a favourite among the fans and club officials.

However, without Champions League qualification it has now become close to impossible to secure the highly-rated striker.

Former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was a huge fan of Haaland after contacting him before his move to Borussia Dortmund in 2020.

Since then, interest has only grown as the world watched a prolific footballer turn into a world-class player.

According to ESPN, Haaland has dismissed interest because he doesn’t feel Man United can not match his ambitions.

Manchester City and Real Madrid currently lead the race for the in-demand striker but a decision will not be made until the end of the season.

The Peoples Person recently reported that the Spanish club had pulled out of a potential transfer.

The clubs that are interested in the 21-year-old are all top of their domestic leagues and are still in European football.

United are struggling to qualify for European football and are already out of the continental league.

Haaland is very keen on continuing his development as a footballer at his next club but that will not be with the United squad.

This comes after the breakthrough of Erik ten Hag’s expected arrival.

United fans will be hoping that a striker can still be found this summer after the departure of Edinson Cavani and the uncertainty of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ten Hag gives United clear warning otherwise club could lose him

RB Leipzig are ready to fight for Erik ten Hag as Manchester United stalls over the manager’s demands.

The Peoples Person recently reported that the German club are trying to hijack Man United’s managerial pursuit of Ten Hag.

It remains likely that the Dutch manager will be at the club this summer.

However, some clubs are beginning to test the water and see if they can bring the highly respected 52-year-old before United active the release clause.

The Ajax head coach remains to be the preferred choice at the club after a series of official meetings with officials.

The Times recently published an article exploring the list of demands Ten Hag has presented.

United will have to agree to these terms or they could face losing the manager to a rival club.

It is believed that the Dutchman wants to have a say in player recruitment such as players incoming to the club and outgoing to the club.

It is thought that after a dull season this time around, the squad needs a considerable amount of change to succeed going forwards.

Ten Hag would also like to bring several new coaches to refresh the backroom team with him.

This includes his current assistant, Mitchell van der Gaag, former Twente manager Steve McClaren and former United striker Robin van Persie.

The list of demands is something many fans will want the club officials to agree with considering how many want to see him at the club next season.

However, in recent seasons, they have been quite stubborn with their former managers and it has caused a lot of anger behind the scenes.

United fans must wait and hope that an official announcement for Ten Hag comes in the upcoming weeks.

Major Ten hag update: Tier one source says he is close to making Man Utd decision

Manchester United are closing in on the appointment of Erik ten Hag as their permanent manager.

According to David Ornstein ( The Athletic), the 52 year old is now very close to deciding whether to accept United’s proposal.

Ten Hag emerged as United’s preferred managerial candidate after a detailed round of research and interviews.

The Dutchman is currently leading an Eredivisie title charge at Ajax, who sit four points clear of second-placed team PSV Eindhoven.

Ornstein claims that Man Ud are waiting on Ten Hag’s final decision, which could include renewing his deal at Ajax.

The Dutchman wants certain assurances from United, including his role and control over transfers.

United and Ajax share a strong relationship, and the decision will likely be made sooner rather than later.

If talks are positive between the two parties, then the deal could be announced after the KNVB Cup final on April 17.

Ten Hag would probably be the most exciting managerial appointment post Sir Alex Ferguson.

His style of football, philosophy and principles fit in well with the ethos of the club.

It is imperative for United to get this deal over the line as soon as possible.

The club need to focus their attention on the upcoming transfer window, which could see the biggest squad exodus in United’s history.

Top club could hijack Man Utd's deal for Ten Hag - report

Manchester United could be in danger of missing out on their prime managerial target.

According to The Telegraph, RB Leipzig could hijack United’s perusal of Erik ten Hag.

The Dutchman remains the favourite to take the helm at Old Trafford, but there is growing interest from the Bundesliga club.

Leipzig are expected to stick to their new boss Domenico Tedesco, who was brought in after the sacking f Jesse Marsch in December.

Patrick Berger (SPORT1) called the Leipzig rumours ‘nonsense.’

He stated: “RB Leipzig to hijack Man United’s potential Erik ten Hag deal?”

“Absolutely nonsense! The Dutch was a candidate in the past.”

“Leipzig are totally satisfied with Domenico Tedesco.”

“Ten Hag is still the top candidate to takeover Man Utd.”

Jan Age Fjortoft too blatantly denied the rumours linking Ten Hag to Leipzig.

United are said to be still in advanced discussions with Ten Hag’s camp and remains confident of landing their man.

Ten Hag wants to have control over incomings and outgoings if he is to implement his philosophy onto the club.

Telegraph also says that other reports claiming that the 52 year old wants full control over the club’s proceedings are completely false.

Ajax are reportedly miffed at the constant speculation surrounding their manager, especially when the season isn’t over and the club is in a title race.

Hard work and determinations from u18s shows up first team with come back victory - Match Report

While the first team was in action yesterday, Manchester United u18s were also away to Stoke City.

The side saw three changes from last week’s draw against Sunderland with Radek Vitek, Rhys Bennett and Joe Hugill coming into the starting XI.

Stoke would take an early lead in the 10th minute after getting to the byline on the right side and cutting back, Rhys Bennett blocked the first attempt but was unlucky on the follow up as Nathan Lowe’s shot deflected off the defender and into the net.

Moments later Dan Gore burst through midfield and slid Manni Norkett in behind Stoke’s backline but the forward’s cross was just out of reach of the supporting Hugill.

In the 16th minute, a free kick at the edge of the box for Stoke was blocked out for a corner.

On the resulting corner, a high ball to the back post found a towering David Okagbue to nod home and double Stoke’s lead.

United pulled one back in the 35th as Ethan Ennis’ cross bounced in the area and Hugill stuck a foot out to pop the ball over the Stoke keeper and into the net.

There was almost an equaliser just before the break when Sam Murray’s corner was flicked on by Marc Jurado and bobbled around the congested area before Sonny Aljofree poked an effort at goal but couldn’t generate enough power to beat the keeper.

The second half continued with United chasing the equaliser and they found the mark in the 60th minute through Ennis.

A delicately chipped ball into the box from Jurado was knocked down by Hugill who showed the awareness to find Ennis to slot in from six yards out.

A mistake from Maxi Oyedele almost allowed Stoke to immediately retake the lead but a great double save from Vitek was there to deny it.

Oyedele would make up for the mistake as he would grab the winner late into injury time.

A perfectly sliced diagonal ball from Sam Mather deep in midfield found Oyedele creeping into the box to head over the keeper and seal the victory for United.

Coach Paul McShane was full of praise after the match for the quality on show by the players but was also keen to single out their efforts saying “I think the spirit is the big one to take out of today, to go two-nil down and to keep at it, to not drop heads, is a big thing for us.”

United: Vitek, Pye, Aljofree, Bennett, Jurado, Oyedele, Gore (Murray 32), Mather, Hugill, Ennis (McNeill 64), Norkett (Forson 64)
