Legendary Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has announced his return to the coaching dugout in the new year, having left the Gunners in the summer of 2018 after 22-years in-charge.
However, Wenger’s return to the sidelines won’t be for long, in fact it will just be for a one-off, glorified friendly match in Saudi Arabia for the Riyadh Season Cup against Paris St-Germain in January 2022 – according to a report in the Mirror.
The now 71-year-old will pit his wits against the likes of Neymar, Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe in this one-off return, for a combined super team made up of players from Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr.
Arsene Wenger’s name has barely been out of the sporting headlines in recent weeks due to his championing of a World Cup every two years – making it more frequent than every four years, a concept that is proving controversial.
