Manchester United overcame a stubborn Burnley side 1-0 at Turf Moor this evening to go top of the Premier League for the first time since 2018. Here are our player ratings for the game:
(A score of 6 is around average.)
David de Gea 6 – In truth, De Gea had very little to do.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka 6 – Worked hard down the right but wasn’t very effective going forward.
Eric Bailly 8 – Another brilliant defensive performance. If he can stay fit, he can solve all United’s problems at the back. Superb.
Harry Maguire 7 – Perhaps unlucky to have his goal ruled out and cleared his lines effectively.
Luke Shaw 7 – Did quite well defensively but didn’t offer much going forward.
Nemanja Matic 7 – A good solid performance from Matic.
Paul Pogba 9 – At times the game passed him by in the first half as he stayed deep, but when allowed to roam in the second he was majestic and won the game for United.
Marcus Rashford 6 – Got the assist, but an otherwise poor performance from Rashford. Really needs to release the ball quicker. He dwells on it so long that he allows the opposition to get 10 men behind the ball before he makes his move.
Bruno Fernandes 7 – Not vintage Bruno, but a good solid performance for most of the game.
Anthony Martial 3 – Really poor finishing again from Anto. His confidence seems so low at the moment. He is so much better than this.
Edinson Cavani 8 – Excellent, busy performance, led the line well, was unlucky not to score.
Substitutes
Mason Greenwood 6 – Did not really affect the game
Scott McTominay 6 – Did not have chance to affect the game.
Axel Tuanzebe 6 – Not on long enough to get a score
Edinson Cavani has made quite an impact since his deadline day arrival at Old Trafford, but how much do you know about our other South American players, past and present? Take our quiz below to find out!
