Manchester United great Roy Keane emphatically shut down comparisons of Eric Cantona and Bruno Fernandes after the loss to Manchester City.
The Portuguese’s impact since joining roughly a year ago has been remarkable and so has naturally been compared to the French magician’s time at the club.
However, Bruno couldn’t rescue United from a disappointing 2-0 defeat vs City as they crashed out of yet another semi-final.
The former Sporting Lisbon man wasn’t the only poor performer on the night but Keane was quick to dismiss comparisons with Cantona.
Bruno has otherwise been in remarkable form this season, though it’s safe to say he’ll likely be his own worst critic.
"Fernandes did not do much tonight, the top players turn up in the big occasions and that is what Cantona used to do and get trophies that is where this team is short"

Bruno has been so good for Manchester United that he can be forgiven for having a poor game, even if it was badly timed.
In fairness to him, he has been running on fumes for a while now as he has consistently played for the first-team this season without much rest.
United’s overreliance on Bruno shouldn’t be something he’s blamed for either and the hope is there’s a way for the team to perform without him in the future.
Keane has always been a pundit who’s a little on the harsh side so the talented midfielder shouldn’t take his words to heart.
Manchester United have fielded some of the worlds greatest centre backs over the years, but how much do you know about them? Take our quiz below to find out!
