Manchester United have drawn La Liga leaders Real Sociedad in the Europa League.
It is arguably the hardest possible draw for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men, with Real Sociedad flying high at the top of the Spanish League this season, three points ahead of Real Madrid and nine ahead of Barcelona.
It also brings United head-to-head with former City man David Silva and former Red, Adnan Januzaj. Another familiar face is former Arsenal man Nacho Monreal.
It is the first time the Spanish side have reached the knockout stages of any European competition. United last won the competition under José Mourinho in 2017 when they beat Ajax in the final
The Red Devils will want to improve on their performance in last season’s competition, when they crashed out at the semi-final stage to another Spanish side, Sevilla.
United will play the first leg away on Thursday 18th February and the second at Old Trafford on the 25th February.
Other fixtures include:
Wolfsburger AC v Tottenham Hotspur
Dynamo Kiev v Club Brugge
Benfica v Arsenal
Crvena Zvezda v AC Milan
Royal Antwerp v Rangers
Slavia Prague v Leicester City
FC Salzburg v Villareal
SC Braga v AC Roma
FC Krasnodar v Dinamo Zagreb
Young Boys v Bayer Leverkusen
Molde v Hoffenheim
Granada v Napoli
Maccabi Tel Aviv v Shakhtar Donetsk
LOSC Lille v Ajax
Olympiacos v PSV Eindhoven
