United set to tie down brilliant star with £300k per week deal - report

Marcus Rashford’s fine recent form for Manchester United will shortly be rewarded with a lucrative new contract, according to The Daily Star.

Rashford put in a man-of-the-match performance against Sheffield United on Thursday, scoring two goals, and has already notched twelve goals and five assists in twenty games this season.

The 23-year-old’s current contract runs for another two and a half years, with a one year extension option, so it is early days for the club to offer the increase, especially after the player recently pledged his long-term future to the club.

But The Star believes that ‘United chief [Ed Woodward] wants to tie him down to a new deal before next summer’s Euros, when the striker will be one of the main attractions and could enhance his reputation even further.
Rashford[’s] heroics have caught the attention of Europe’s top clubs, including Real Madrid, Barcelona and Paris St Germain.’
The outlet claims that the club want the contract agreed before the end of this season.
‘It is understood executive vice chairman Ed Woodward will open negotiations with Rashford and his representatives in the next two months,’ the report continues.
‘Woodward is keen to offer the 23-year-old a new five-year deal worth around £300,000-a-week that reflects his growing status and influence in the team.’
The contract would represent a 50% pay increase on his current £200,000 per week deal and could potentially tie him to the club for a period of five or six more years.
