Manchester United have reportedly set their plans for the January transfer window and it’s unlikely to leave a smile on fans’ faces.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is probably still upset from the last time the market was open despite getting in a few fresh faces.
The legendary Norwegian was hoping to have all his signings ahead of the new season but instead had to wait for the vast majority of his new players to join on deadline day.
Donny van de Beek was the only one who joined relatively early whereas the likes of Facundo Pellistri, Edinson Cavani and Alex Telles all joined on the last day.
There’s certainly a case to be made in terms of which of the signings were actually Solskjaer’s main target ahead of the window opening.
According to Manchester Evening News, the Red Devils will use the January transfer window to get rid of some deadwood in the squad even though there’s an acceptance they will be tough to sell, especially since it’s a notoriously poor market.
Marcos Rojo, Phil Jones and Sergio Romero would be the obvious sales but the lack of genuine interest in them coupled with their high wages means it’s likely none will actually leave permanently.
Edinson Cavani has made quite an impact since his deadline day arrival at Old Trafford, but how much do you know about our other South American players, past and present? Take our quiz below to find out!
