Some Manchester United may have overreacted with their unhappiness with the team’s victory over West Brom, or at least the statistics suggest so.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men could only scrape by the relegation candidates at Old Trafford and that left many unimpressed.
United fans had hoped to see a big win against a team many expect to go straight back down to the Championship.
However, that wasn’t the case as Solskjaer’s side could only win thanks to a Bruno Fernandes penalty.
Three points is always the most important thing but supporters were displeased in how the team got it, despite the statistics suggesting it could’ve gone how they wished.

Even if Bruno’s penalty is taken out of account, United still would’ve been at 1.67, showing just how much they deserved their win.
What fans have a right to be unhappy about is the fact those chances weren’t converted and so the victory wasn’t as comfortable as it should’ve been.
After all, at the end of the day football is defined by the results of things and so these fine margins make all the difference.
It’s easy to say West Brom should have had a penalty or Manchester United could have converted their chances and the story would’ve been different.
However, those hypothetical scenarios could be made up as one pleases, what matters is the reality and the reality is United won but should have done better and will need to if they want to have a successful season.
