Man United hotly pursuing top target despite conflicting reports

Manchester United are reportedly still pushing on with their summer signings despite the ongoing pandemic and Jack Grealish is believed to be amongst them.

The talented Englishman caused an uproar after breaking isolation rules to go to a friend’s house.

He then allegedly got drunk and whilst trying to drive back home he crashed into parked cars before running away from the scene.

Grealish has since apologised for his actions but his future was thrown into doubt after many claimed United wouldn’t be keen on signing him anymore.

Couple that with the current global health crisis which has left clubs in financial ordeal, it’s easy to see why a deal may no longer be on.

According to Manchester Evening News, the Red Devils are keeping lines of communication open with the clubs and agents of potential signings despite the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

Reports in regard to Grealish have been conflicting with some saying interest ended in him following his public ordeal while others stated it’s made no difference.

Only time will tell whether Manchester United’s interest truly remains but fans’ opinions were clear on the matter.

Supporters feel he can no longer represent the club and called for other targets to be pursued instead.

Man United reignite interest in solid Serie A defender: report

Manchester United are reportedly weighing up an option to sign Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly as they reignite interest in a player they previously wanted.

The talented Senegalese was heavily linked with a transfer to Old Trafford a while ago but nothing came of it.

Instead, Harry Maguire would later be signed and fans believed that was the last defensive reinforcement they would see for some time.

However, it seems Ole Gunnar Solskjaer isn’t quite satisfied with his defence just yet and is keen on adding another player.

United are already well-stocked in that department but it could be argued a top partner for Maguire is needed.

According to ESPN, Solskjaer is targetting a second centre-back in as many summer transfer windows and has drawn up a list of potential targets with Koulibaly amongst them.

Signing the Serie A defender would put question marks over Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly and Axel Tuanzebe‘s futures to say the least.

Solskjaer must’ve been hoping one of the aforementioned trio would step up and solidify their spot alongside Maguire but it appears this report hints that didn’t happen.

The only other way Koulibaly settles in without upsetting the dressing room is if a back three formation is used and that’s not something the legendary Norwegian is entirely against.

United chasing after another megastar with Raiola as their agent: report

Manchester United are reportedly looking into the possibility of signing Juventus star Matthijs de Ligt despite their interest in Paul Pogba.

The talented Dutchman was football’s most sought-after prospect just a while ago but it appears he could be on the move already.

De Ligt was once linked with a transfer to United but the Italian giants beat them to his signature instead.

With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in charge, Harry Maguire was the next centre-back brought in instead and it seemed that was going to be the last defensive signing for a while.

However, that no longer appears to be the case with executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward already putting the work in for this summer’s potential transfers.

According to the Express, the Red Devils are looking to take advantage of De Ligt’s struggle to settle in at Juventus with Woodward potentially using Pogba in a swap deal with Mino Raiola the agent of the pair.

The world-class Frenchman is said to have a desire to leave Old Trafford and his former team are believed to be amongst those interested in signing him.

Juventus may not have the fees for Pogba but a swap deal means both clubs can avoid spending ludicrous amounts.

Pogba's transfer scenario takes surprising twist due to impending financial crisis

As the world crisis plunges football into the unknown, Paul Pogba’s future looks even more unclear as we wait for UEFA to discuss player contract and registration deadlines in an emergency meeting today.

But in the absence of a crystal ball and assuming there is to be a completion of the current season followed by a transfer window, where is it looking like Pogba will end up as things stand?

Most of the rumours to date have focussed on three potential outcomes: staying at Old Trafford, moving to Real Madrid or moving to Juventus. Two other possibilities have also been mooted, albeit much less frequently: a move to Inter Milan or to PSG.

Right now, the least likely of all these options for Pogba looks to be a return to Juventus. The Turin side are probably the keenest of the chasing pack to sign the Frenchman, but are in the worst financial position to do so. They have already reportedly balked at both United’s reduced asking price – believed to be around £100 million – and Pogba’s salary demands of around £350,000 per week.

Juve were, according to The Independent, ‘in danger of breaching financial fair play regulations even before the pandemic devastated life in Italy’ and have a huge wage bill including that of Cristiano Ronaldo, believed to be £550,000 per week. It leaves the Italian side struggling to come up with player exchange options as their only way of bringing the 27-year-old back to the club.

A swap deal involving Paulo Dybala looks unlikely as the player turned down the chance of making the switch with Romelu Lukaku going the other way in the summer. The latest suggestion coming out of Italy of a Aaron Ramsey exchange looks just as unlikely, given the player’s dreadful injury record and age – he will turn 30 this year.

The fact of the matter is that all clubs are more than likely to suffer financial losses due to the world crisis and so transfer fees are likely to go down and players are unlikely to get big contract increases. This makes swap deals potentially more likely, but if Pogba is to go to Italy, Inter might be in a better position to sign him for that reason.

The Mirror reported Inter’s interest in the Frenchman back in January. Inter boss Antonio Conte has worked with Pogba before at Juventus and the Nerazzurri do have a player who could be an ideal candidate for an exchange with Pogba – Argentinian striker Lautaro Martinez.

Whilst Barcelona are believed to be in pole position to sign the 22-year-old, the predicted financial crisis may mean that they are unable to stump up the £102 million release clause. A similar asking price, a similar salary – a straight swap with Pogba could be a very viable proposition.

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane’s interest in Pogba has never diminished, but the man that holds the purse strings at the Bernabeu, Florentino Perez, is less enthusiastic. Given the likely financial constraints caused by the coronavirus crisis, it is probably much more likely that los Blancos will plump for the less expensive option of Donny Van de Beek this summer, with rumours of a pre-agreed deal for the Dutchman refusing to die down.

Paris St Germain are the only other realistic option for the World Cup winner. There were reports in the summer that Pogba had agreed a huge £429,000 per week contract with the French side but it was dependent on the sale of Neymar from PSG to Barcelona, which fell through. If les Bleu et Rouges manage to offload the Brazilian this summer or Kylian Mbappe moves on, it is very possible that they will return for their country’s star player – but that is a big ‘if’.

That leaves us with the scenario of Pogba staying at Old Trafford, something that seemed unthinkable just a few weeks ago. However, the player has seemed more open to the idea of late and it has been reported that talks have opened between his agent Mino Raiola and executive vice chairman Ed Woodward about a contract extension that could potentially keep Pogba at the club until his early thirties.

Of course, if any of Pogba’s suitors come out of the current crisis financially unscathed, the balance will swing in their favour. But unless relations behind the scenes are much worse than are being painted in the press, the clever money right now would be on the Frenchman staying at Old Trafford after all.

Tottenham handed huge boost as summer target reveals he wants Premier League deal to happen

Tottenham have been given a huge boost in their pursuit of Willian as the forward has admitted that talks over a new contract at Chelsea have stopped.

Willian says that Chelsea are not willing to give him the contract he wanted and now the negotiations have halted.

The Brazil international has been linked with Tottenham, along with Arsenal and Bayern, in recent months as they look to snap him up on a free transfer.

Speaking to UOL, as translated by Sport Witness, Willian said:

The only concrete negotiation was to renew a contract with Chelsea, which wasn’t possible. They wanted a two-year contract and I asked for three. Now, everything has stopped, I will only have news when I return.

Willian also did an interview with ESPN stating that his aim is to remain in the Premier League and this could work in Tottenham’s favour as they look to sign him this summer.

Speaking to ESPN, as translated by Sport Witness, he said:

My desire is to stay in the Premier League, but I don’t rule out playing in other leagues, no. I’ll play until the end of the season and see what happens.

Read Chelsea verdict

Unless Chelsea cave in and decide to offer him a three-year deal instead of just two, Willian could be on his way out of Stamford Bridge. If he does leave for nothing, Chelsea could be strengthening their rivals without being given any compensation for it. However, Willian turns 32 later this year and they may be banking on him regressing as he heads toward the end of his career.

Despite his age, however, he has been an important player for Chelsea this season. He ranks second in the squad for WhoScored ratings this term, with a score of 7.25 in the Premier League. This suggests that Chelsea’s squad could be dealt a blow by his departure, with Callum Hudson-Odoi seemingly not ready for the responsibility of being a regular starter. He has produced just one goal in 17 league appearances this season.

Willian, meanwhile, has scored five and assisted five in the Premier League, showing that he still has a big impact in the final third for the Blues. Letting him go could dent their attack and might force Chelsea to find a replacement in the transfer market, so Frank Lampard could be better off offering him a new deal to keep him around next season. This could then allow Hudson-Odoi more time to develop and prepare himself to be a regular starter further down the line.

"Got to accept it" - Tottenham tipped to beat Chelsea in race for standout Premier League star

Pundit Noel Whelan believes that Tottenham Hotspur could win the race to sign Nick Pope, who has also been linked with a move to Chelsea.

As reported on the Daily Star, the Burnley goalkeeper could be at the centre of a bidding war between the two clubs during the summer transfer window.

Noel Whelan feels that Pope could be the ideal replacement for Hugo Lloris at Spurs. As quoted on Football Insider, he said:

Nick Pope is an excellent goalkeeper. There is not many good goalkeepers out there so he would definitely be worth the money – without a doubt.

A club like Burnley have got to accept it when clubs come in with big money. They cannot afford not to accept a £30million plus bid.

Spurs get a good goalkeeper, Sean Dyche gets some money to go out there and strengthen.

READ CHELSEA VERDICT

Pope has been a standout performer for the Clarets this term, proven by his 11 clean sheets and 89 saves in the top-flight (PremierLeague.com).

We feel that Chelsea should try their best to secure his signature following the recent concerns about whether Kepa Arrizabalaga is good enough, he was recently dropped to the bench by Frank Lampard.

The Spaniard doesn’t seem to have the physical presence that is needed to be a successful Premier League shot-stopper and that is something Pope has as he stands at 6ft 3in tall. The big man also seems to be pretty good with his feet, playing 769 passes this season, 53 more than Kepa, which could help him fit into Lampard’s ball-playing side.

Ferdinand raves about 'super conductor' poised for Man United swoop

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has said he is excited about the news that the Red Devils are set to buy Saul Niguez.

Reports emerged yesterday that United are prepared to meet the Spaniard’s £135 million release clause to bring him to Old Trafford to replace Paul Pogba should he leave.

The 25-year-old has made 286 appearances for Atletico Madrid, scoring 38 goals and registering 18 assists since his 2014 move from Rayo Vallecano.

And Ferdinand believes he is exactly the type of player that would improve the Manchester United side.

‘He’s another one, what a player. I’ve been harping on about Saul Niguez for a few years now’ the former captain said during an Instagram live video via Goal.com.

‘I think he’s a major player.’

‘Composed, calm, great left foot, lovely conductor, he can score goals, tactically he’s very aware.’

‘You can see Simeone, he gets his teams really well set up and he’s in the middle orchestrating and dictating things.’

‘Saul Niguez is huge and it’s come out in the papers this week that Man Utd are interested in him, but we’ll have to wait and see.’

As reported here yesterday, although Saul’s buyout clause is high, a complicated third party ownership deal means that Atleti might be under pressure to accept a lower offer to avoid paying penalties to 40% owners Quality Football, headed up by agent Jorge Mendes and former United and Chelsea CEO Peter Kenyon.

The Spain international is simply one of the best midfielders in world football and his acquisition would more than help ease the blow of losing Pogba should the Frenchman depart in the summer.

The 21-year-old Lille striker has been bang in-form for the French club this season, with 18 goals and six assists across all competitions.

The report via HITC claims that Arsenal tried and failed to land Victor Osimhen in 2017, but rejected a move to the Premier League side for German club Wolfsburg – a move which seriously backfired, with the Nigerian never scoring in 14 appearances.

After leaving Wolfsburg for Belgian club Charleroi, Victor Osimhen finally showed his ability, scoring 20 goals in 36 appearances – earning him a €12million move to Lille. Now the French club reportedly believe they can pocket as much as €100m for Osimhen.

Arsenal if they are serious in going back in for Osimhen will likely be one of a number of clubs interested, with the report claiming that the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham, AC Milan, Real Madrid and Chelsea are all keen.

With just one impressive season at Ligue 1 level it would be hard to imagine any of these clubs wanting to spend as much as €100m, and no doubt it’ll be a price-tag that drops when it comes to the transfer window opening and business turning from talk to action.

Tottenham and Chelsea given cause for concern as Premier League rivals enter race to land Brazilian star

Leicester City have joined Chelsea and Tottenham in the race to land Barcelona forward Philippe Coutinho this summer.

According to the Mirror, Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers could consider a move to bring Coutinho to the King Power next season.

Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester United and Arsenal are all said to be interested in the Brazil international along with Leicester.

The report claims that Coutinho is planning to leave Barcelona this summer, even if it is on an initial loan basis with a view to a permanent transfer.

Read Chelsea verdict

Chelsea and Tottenham could be concerned by this latest development, given Rodgers’ relationship with Coutinho. Rodgers signed Coutinho from Inter for Liverpool back in 2013 and spent two seasons working with the Brazilian at Anfield, with the forward being named in the PFA Team of the Year during the second campaign.

This means that they already have an existing relationship and if Leicester are able to secure Champions League football for next season, that could be a big pull for Coutinho.

After struggling at Barcelona, Coutinho may benefit from working with a familiar face who has already proven that he is able to get the best out of him – as Rodgers did at Liverpool. During his first two seasons at Anfield, Coutinho managed eight goals and 14 assists in the Premier League.

'Ruthless' Solskjaer widely expected to pull the plug on major transfer

Jack Grealish’s proposed transfer to Manchester United hangs in the balance after the player broke curfew and allegedly partied all night before crashing his Range Rover into several parked cars.

The Aston Villa man was quick to apologise on social media for his actions but all eyes now will be on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to see whether the incident causes him to drop his pursuit of the talented midfielder.

Grealish was believed to be one of Solskjaer’s top summer transfer targets and it was widely reported that a deal of around £60-£70 million was likely to take place.

However, the Norwegian’s blueprint for rebuilding Manchester United is based around hard work, dedication and character and as such large sections of the press are speculating that he will take a dim view of the 24-year-old’s actions.
The Mirror quotes Solskjaer as saying recently ‘We’ve tried to educate our players and our kids to be proper people.’

‘In my view, the best players have always been the best people.’

‘You have to have that value system and a certain kind of attitude about you to make a United player.’

The Mirror concludes that ‘Grealish is one of Solskjaer’s top targets, but the United boss may now have doubts about such a move, given the importance he places on a player’s integrity.’

Meanwhile, The Mail also notes that Solskjaer recently said ‘When you’re a footballer you should be proper boring.’

‘You go to bed, you rest, you recover and you get ready for the next game. That’s the culture we need to get to.’

‘If you don’t sacrifice, you’re just passing through.’

And the outlet also concludes that ‘against that backdrop, it is not unreasonable to deduce Solskjaer took a dim view of Grealish’s latest alleged public misdemeanour.’

The Athletic’s Gregg Evans, on the other hand, believes that United should overlook the offence, for which Grealish has been fined two weeks’ wages by his club.

‘To be purely judged on this incident would be unfair, though. While his weekend movements are inexcusable … there are dozens of heartwarming stories that paint a very different picture of Grealish’.

‘Unknown to many are his contributions to charities, with regular silent donations. The 24-year-old also often sends signed merchandise to disabled supporters, makes a habit of handing shirts to young supporters and is usually the last player to leave Villa Park after signing autographs for fans outside the North Stand gates.’

‘Staff at Villa speak of a caring captain who has matured over the years and for the past three seasons he has largely let his football do the talking.’

‘The weekend incident also shouldn’t cloud what he has done on and off the pitch to establish himself as one of the Premier League’s top performers.’

Unfortunately for the Villa captain though, it is not the first time that he has been caught misbehaving. In 2015 he was photographed sprawled out on the floor at a party in Tenerife and was also pictured inhaling nitrous oxide, or hippy crack, in the same year. Grealish had according to The Athletic ‘knuckled down and started to rebrand himself’ before this week’s incident undid four years of hard work to shake off his ‘party-boy reputation’.

It seems unlikely that the United boss will heed The Athletic’s plea to overlook the incident. Recent reports of a ‘ruthless’ Solskjaer sacking David de Gea’s mentor and goalkeeping coach Emilio Alvarez for late night drinking during United’s 2019 pre-season tour suggest that as long as the Norwegian remains the Red Devils’ manager, Jack Grealish is highly unlikely to become a Manchester United player.

Man United's 'sportsman with a conscience' provides fantastic boost for fans

There was good news for Manchester United fans yesterday as the club confirmed that Marcus Rashford’s latest scan results were positive.

The striker has been sidelined after sustaining a double stress fracture of his back in an FA Cup tie against Wolverhampton Wanderers in January.

Rashford told Sky Sports on Saturday ‘I feel much better. I have a scan in another couple of days and that should solidify it, but I feel … 10 times better now.’

And now the club has revealed that the scan Rashford spoke about has yielded good results.

‘The club can confirm that Marcus Rashford has been cleared to step up his rehabilitation programme following encouraging signs on his latest scans’ a statement on the official website reads.

‘His progress will continue to be monitored by the club’s medical team throughout the current lockdown period.’

The news comes as a welcome boost to the Red Devils and could mean that Rashford will be fit to play when the season resumes.

That could be as early as the first week in May according to The Mail, with a conference call between Premier League club bosses scheduled for Friday to discuss the proposal.

With Paul Pogba also nearing fitness, it now looks possible that United fans will see Rashford, Pogba and Bruno Fernandes playing alongside each other for the first time in under five weeks’ time.

In the meantime, Rashford is continuing his charitable work in the FareShare programme to raise money for children whose family normally rely on free school meals to feed them.

The project has reached the £100,000 target set by the 22-year-old and as a result he will do a live Q&A on Instagram on Wednesday at 4pm.

Rashford’s response to the coronavirus crisis and his professionalism have been exemplary and have won him respect and praise from wide sections of the media.

The Guardian has revealed that Rashford had begun judging a poetry competition for Manchester children with hearing impairments before the COVID-19 outbreak and The Times called Rashford ‘A sportsman with a conscience’.

Fabrizio Romano confirms Man United are in talks with Jadon Sancho's agent

Manchester United have reportedly made contact with Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho’s agent as the race for his signature heats up.

The dazzling winger is said to be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s priority signing of the summer but there will be competition.

Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City are believed to be the Premier League clubs interested but there are La Liga giants who are keen too.

Barcelona and Real Madrid have both considered the transfer but reports have claimed Sancho only wants to return to England.

United were said to be the frontrunners in the race but Fabrizio Romano has cooled down such talk.

Manchester United can afford €110m but the problem with such a deal is it leaves Solskjaer with too little room in the remainder of his transfer budget.

The legendary Norwegian would likely want two more signings along with Sancho so unless the club sells, transfers for others are hard to imagine.

Luckily for Solskjaer, United have a host of loan stars that could be moved on such as the likes of Chris Smalling, Alexis Sanchez and Marcos Rojo.

There are other players who may be considered deadwood too and so if they’re sold, both their freed up wages and the transfer fees could make room for more additions.

While football is on lockdown, try your hand at our quiz below that tests your knowledge about the times when Manchester United or its players have been banned, bombed or blocked from playing.

Report says deal unofficially agreed between Man United and top target

Manchester United are reportedly closer than ever before to signing Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho ahead of what will prove to be a crucial summer.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was previously said to have prioritised the signing of the sensational Englishman as the club see him as the new poster boy.

If memory serves correct, Wayne Rooney was once signed by Sir Alex Ferguson under the same premise and it’s safe to say that transfer went well.

Sancho would have at least a decade at United should he join, leaving him plenty of time to create a sliver of legacy within the club’s history.

Solskjaer has invested well so far in his tenure and he’ll be hoping he gets this one right too.

According to the Independent, the noise coming out of Old Trafford is that Sancho has unofficially confirmed he will join and has been promised the iconic number seven shirt.

It’s also reported his transfer won’t rely on whether or not the Red Devils qualify for the Champions League with Sancho interested in Solskjaer’s project so far.

Borussia Dortmund certainly won’t sell cheap and it’s difficult to imagine that even if everything goes well, the former Molde man will have any room left in the budget for additional signings.

Man United fans no longer want this Solskjaer summer target

Manchester United fans are no longer too keen on Aston Villa star and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer target Jack Grealish after he was caught being a hypocrite.

The talented English was reported to be on the legendary Norwegian’s wish-list for the summer but that’s unlikely to happen anymore.

United will be wary to become associated with Grealish after he was said to have broken the lockdown rules put in place following the coronavirus crisis.

This happened just hours after the Villa captain posted a video online calling for people to stay at home to save lives.

Grealish is believed to have gone round to a friend’s place, gotten drunk then proceeded to leave in his car, smashing parked cars along the way.

Big news this morning is that Jack Grealish has allegedly crashed his Range Rover into several parked cars following a…

Posted by Manchester United Peoples Person on Sunday, 29 March 2020

Grealish has since come out to apologise and insisted people should stay home, though he refused to confirm if he indeed got drunk and drove under the influence.

Manchester United fans commented on the Peoples Person’s post, stating their unwillingness to be associated with him any more.

One fan wrote: “I think Grealish and Madison are over hyped…”

While others said: “Just another footballer who’s better then the rest of us…”

“Don’t want him anyway…”

“Stick a fork in him….he’s done!”

“If it’s true (and no smoke without fire) then he might have blown it. Ole won’t want anyone that could upset the Apple cart from a disciplinary point of view.”

If these are the thoughts of just a handful of fans then it’s likely there’s plenty more who think the same.

Solskjaer would definitely reconsider any plans, especially if Grealish is officially persecuted in any way.

Why Man United are 'confident' this summer transfer window

Manchester United are reportedly set to have an interesting summer transfer window with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer potentially getting just what he wanted from one player.

The legendary Norwegian has constantly spoken of his and the club’s desire to hold onto Paul Pogba and it seems that may just happen.

More and more signs have been popping up of late, hinting the talented Frenchman will be staying despite his contract not having long left to it.

United fans were excited to see Pogba and new hit signing Bruno Fernandes playing together in the same starting XI and it appears matters may go in that direction.

The former Juventus man previously spoke of a desire for a new challenge but an injury-hit campaign has meant there are doubts over that happening.

According to the Independent, the Red Devils are quietly confident about keeping hold of Pogba this summer transfer window as many clubs won’t be able to afford their £100m+ evaluation, particularly after the financial effects of the coronavirus crisis is felt.

Just like many major corporations are feeling the impact of the virus that has taken the world by storm, many major football clubs are feeling it too.

Experts have already predicted a significantly quieter than usual transfer window if there even is one for that matter.

Mikel Arteta has reportedly, via talkSPORT, targeted a move for Real Betis midfielder and France World Cup winner Nabil Fekir, who made a budget move to Spain last summer for £17.7m.

Fekir, still only 26, was expected to depart his former club Lyon for one of Europe’s elite, with Liverpool coming close to signing the playmaker a couple of seasons back, but he instead opted to move to mid-table La Liga side Real Betis.

Seven league goals and six assists in 22 appearances has proven just how effective Fekir can be once again, and that has alerted Arsenal who will feel they can do a deal that represents good value for money, when the transfer window re-opens.

The report does clarify that Arsenal won’t make any final decisions on transfer targets until football is given the ‘all clear’ to continue, but Fekir appears to be very much on the club’s shortlist of potential targets.

Leeds join Premier League duo in race to sign star striker in £18m summer deal

Chelsea have reportedly been joined by Leeds in the race to land Metz striker Habib Diallo this summer.

According to Le Foot, Leeds and Chelsea are both interested in signing Diallo from Metz at the end of the season.

The report also claims that he will cost at least €20m (£18m), following his impressive form in Ligue 1 this season for Metz.

Diallo has scored 12 goals in 26 league appearances so far this season, despite playing in a struggling Metz side. This suggests that he could be ready to take the next step in his career and play for a bigger club, whether that be Leeds or Chelsea.

With Michy Batshuayi and Olivier Giroud’s futures far from certain, Diallo could be a shrewd addition to the squad to act as cover and competition for Tammy Abraham. If either Batshuayi or Giroud, or both, leave the club this summer then Diallo could step in and fill their place in the squad.

Diallo could challenge Abraham for his place and provide stern competition in order to push the England international on. This season, Abraham has had very little in terms of pressure on his position, so signing Diallo could help him to train harder and up his own game.

Man United's Grealish dreams in tatters as star accused of crashing car while drunk

Manchester United may be forced to think twice about signing Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish after reports of drunk driving emerged last night.

Just hours after Grealish posted a video on Twitter urging fans to stay at home and protect the NHS, the Villa man allegedly smashed his Range Rover into several parked cars in a Birmingham suburb before arguing with residents.

On Saturday afternoon, the 24-year-old tweeted a video saying ‘To help save lives, you must stay at home.’

‘Only leave your house to buy food, buy medicine or for exercise and always remember to stay at least two metres apart. This is urgent. Protect the NHS. Stay home. Save lives.’

But just hours later, photos were posted on Twitter of a man looking like Grealish in discussion with a man on a pavement next to a damaged white Range Rover. The man looking like Grealish is wearing a white slider on one foot and a furry slipper on the other.

Tweets then emerged of photos sent by a resident to a Birmingham City fan group on Whatsapp, saying ‘Apparently this is Jack Grealish’s car. He vosted friends last night and left drunk in the early hours of this morning and proceded to smash into parked cars. He ran off and had friends or family come and collect him. Police have just left. My neighbour witnessed it appen. Can anyone confirm if this is his motor?

He cannot get away with this surely?’

Someone responded by posting a photo of Grealish getting out of a white Range Rover with the same registration plate at Villa Park, saying “It’s his car”.

The Mail confirmed that ‘a witness has told Sportsmail that Grealish was the man at the scene’

‘He was seen leaving a building where former Villa team-mate Ross McCormack owns a luxury flat.’

The outlet claims that a spokesman for West Midlands Police said the £70,000 vehicle crashed into two stationary cars and added that they would like to speak to the driver.

‘West Midlands Police said: “We were called to Waterside, Dickens Heath, just before 10am to reports that a Range Rover had crashed into two parked cars in the street”.

“The driver left his details with a member of the public at the scene before leaving on foot, and will be spoken to by police in due course.”

“Officers are investigating the circumstances and anyone with information has been asked to get in touch.”‘

The Sun reports that ‘The 4×4 was said to have reversed from a designated parking bay, across a road and gone into a parked silver van, leaving it with a dented bumper and smashed rear lights.’

‘Witnesses said the Range Rover then drove 200 yards, veering on to the pavement and careering into vehicles including a £30,000 silver C-Class Mercedes, and a £20,000 blue Merc.’

‘Grealish was alleged to have boasted to motorists he would pay for the damage.’

‘A neighbour said: “The party had been going on all night. It was unbearable. The noise had only stopped a short while when, just after 8am, there were a series of almighty collisions which reverberated through the flats.

“Outside, Jack Grealish was stood next to his car rowing with a security guard. It was strange to see an England ace looking so unkempt and dishevelled. He looked unsteady and confused.”

“There was an almighty row because Jack didn’t want to wait around but people wanted answers from him.”’

If the police’s investigation confirms that it was indeed Grealish who was driving the car, it is unclear what it will mean for the midfield star’s future. The fact that he was not at the scene when the police arrived would mean that there would be no conclusive proof that he was driving under the influence of alcohol but nonetheless it is hard to imagine that he will come out of the event unscathed.

If the story is confirmed, Grealish could be sanctioned by his club and/or by the FA and it would certainly place doubt over whether Manchester United would be willing or even able to sign the midfield star.

Man United plot sensational swoop for stunning Pogba replacement - report

Manchester United have lined up Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez as a replacement for Paul Pogba, according to The Daily Star.

On paper, the Spaniard is untouchable in the transfer market as he has a nine year contract at Atleti with a £135 million release clause.

But The Star claims this has not put off the Red Devils, who ‘sent scouts to watch Niguez in action at Anfield earlier this month, when he helped Atletico knock Liverpool out of the Champions League.’

The outlet also claims that ‘United are desperate to strengthen their midfield options in the next transfer window and have been tracking Niguez all season.’

The 25-year-old is considered one of Spain’s best midfielders and has played 19 times for his national side, scoring three goals.

However, there is a huge gap between his market value of £82 million and that £135 million release clause.

One potential chink in the Spanish club’s armour is that Saul’s contract is reportedly 40% owned by a third party, Quality Football, led by superagent Jorge Mendes and former United CEO Peter Kenyon.

According to FourFourTwo, Quality Football acquired the stake in the player for just £1.2 million before FIFA outlawed third party player ownership in 2015.

The terms of the deal stipulate that Mendes and Kenyon would need to be notified of any bid made on their player, and if they agreed to it but either Atletico or Niguez turned it down, the club would be required to give the consortium 40% of the bid amount in return for their share.

This would mean, for example, that the Rojiblancos would have to fork out £36 million to Mendes and Kenyon if they turned down an offer of, say, £90 million. Given that they would also receive £54 million – their own 60% – if they agreed to such a sale, the club would be the full £90 million worse off if they refused such a deal unilaterally.

Mendes and Kenyon are shrewd businessmen and would know that the best way to maximise their investment would be by the player leaving the club whilst at the peak of his career.

This puts United in a much stronger position than may have been thought possible to land Saul’s signature and the club’s good relationship with Mendes may prove crucial in the Red Devils’ fight to land their man.

Harry Kane's brutally honest comments open door to sensational Man United move

Manchester United have been put on alert as Harry Kane has admitted he would be prepared to leave Tottenham.

In an interview with former Spurs player and pundit Jamie Redknapp on Instagram, the England man opened up on where he saw his future.

‘Obviously I get asked this question a lot’ Kane said.

‘It’s one of those things – I couldn’t say yes and I couldn’t say no.’

‘I love Spurs, I’ll always love Spurs but I’ve always said if I don’t feel we’re progressing as a team or going in the right direction, I’m not someone to stay there for the sake of it.’

The remarks could be construed as a message to Spurs’ chairman Daniel Levy, who has been criticised for not investing sufficiently in the transfer market.

Mauricio Pochettino was sacked by Levy in November only 18 months after signing a new contract when relations reportedly broke down between the two, with Pochettino having called upon the chairman to ‘be brave and take risks’ and spoke of ‘the need to create a new project’.

The London club have struggled since Pochettino’s departure and are currently lying eighth under Jose Mourinho, in danger of missing out on European football altogether next season.

This clearly does not sit well with ambitious Kane, who despite being awarded the OBE has never won a trophy with Spurs domestically or internationally.

At 26, Kane will know that he is entering the second half of his career and he admitted to Redknapp that he might need to move to a more ambitious club to win honours.

‘I’m an ambitious player, I want to improve and get better.’

‘I want to become one of the top players so it all depends on what happens as a team and how we progress.’

The striker still has four years left of the mammoth six-year contract he signed at Spurs in June 2018, but the landscape in North London has changed since Pochettino’s departure and Levy, together with owners the ENIC Group, will know that they cannot keep an unhappy player of that value at the club against his will.

Kane’s market value is £140 million but Levy is a notoriously tough negotiator and recent reports claimed he had slapped an insane £250 million price tag on Kane’s head.

The CEO would also not want to sell Kane to a Premier League rival and Kane is good enough to walk into any side in the world.

However, with Barcelona poised to sign Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez and rumours growing that Real Madrid are chasing Erling Braut Haaland, United might be one of the few remaining clubs in search of a striker who could afford the kind of figure that would be needed to land the England international.

All eyes would then be on the player to see if he was willing to push to leave and force Spurs to lower their asking price to a more reasonable level.

Man United dealt huge blow in race for sensational Englishman: report

Manchester United fans will be disappointed by the latest news on their reported interest in Leicester City star James Maddison.

The talented Englishman is said to be a target of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s as he attempts to continue the revolution of his squad.

The legendary Norwegian has invested well so far in his tenure as United boss, buying the likes of Daniel James, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes whilst loaning in Odion Ighalo.

Solskjaer was believed to be keen on bolstering up his midfield with Maddison as he puts the finishing touches to that position.

Fans were hoping the news was true as the former Norwich man would potentially prove to be a useful signing.

According to Leicestershire Live, the Red Devils have accepted that Maddison is likely to extend his stay with Leicester and put pen to paper over a new contract.

This news will probably please some fans who wanted Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish instead but should Solskjaer fail to get either, there could be a poor reaction.

It’s believed Manchester United’s top priority is a right-winger with Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho their preferred signing.

Signing the versatile Englishman could end Solskjaer’s interest in the others so how the transfer window develops will be interesting.

Pogba gives strongest hint yet on where his future will be

Manchester United star Paul Pogba has given his latest hint yet in terms of where his future may lie amidst the current speculation.

There have been conflicting reports on the talented Frenchman, with some claiming he’s been impressed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s work and wants to remain to play alongside the in-form Bruno Fernandes.

Others have stated Pogba still has a desire to leave and Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus and PSG remain his potential destinations.

The academy graduate’s agent Mino Raiola was also busy talking to the press weeks ago when he couldn’t help but suggest his client was still going to leave.

Nonetheless, this time around Pogba was the one to do the talking and it seems he was hinting at potentially staying put.

Pogba’s words of encouragement and talk of winning trophies suggest he’s not quite done yet with Manchester United.

Of course, the former Juventus man could’ve just been trying to be optimistic during a deeply concerning time but he has always chosen his words carefully in the past.

United would be far better off not having to address yet another position in the upcoming summer transfer window as they have enough work as it is.

The surprise former PL midfielder with whom Solskjaer could replace Pogba: report

Manchester United fans may be in for a shock after reports emerged of Juventus’ latest plan to pry Paul Pogba away from Old Trafford.

The Italian giants are believed to be open to using Aaron Ramsey in any sort of negotiations which could mean a return to the Premier League for the player.

The former Arsenal man signed for free to join the Serie A club after seeing out his contract in England.

There are conflicting reports over Pogba’s future but some have claimed he’s seeking a move away and Juventus is the destination.

It’s safe to say most supporters wouldn’t be open to a swap deal between the two players and so it may not go down well if true.

Ramsey’s talent is rather obvious but his injury problems are a concern and make any type of player swap a huge gamble.

The Welsh midfielder is also not as good as Pogba and there are obvious questions over whether he’d be willing to play for one of Arsenal’s rivals.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s interest in Ramsey is a little surprising given how most of the other targets mentioned in the press were far different.

The priority is understood to be a right-winger and a striker but perhaps the legendary Norwegian wants to capitalise on an opportunity.
