A late equaliser cost Arsenal all three points against Sheffield United.

Team News – Match Reports – Player Ratings
Match: Arsenal v Sheffield United
Venue: Emirates Stadium
Kick-Off (UK Time): 15:00 18/01/2020
—–
Here’s how we rate Mikel Arteta and the Arsenal players:
Mikel Arteta – 5
Arsenal looked a lot more comfortable for most of this match than they did in the previous fixture against Sheffield United. Mikel Arteta deserves some credit for that but he also must garner some of the blame for the way things went wrong. The Gunners surrendered the lead yet again, something that is becoming a worrying trend for Arteta’s Arsenal.
Bernd Leno – 4
He had an afternoon to forget. Bernd Leno looked shaky all day long with some loose handling and wayward kicking.
Ainsley Maitland-Niles – 5
He was okay. Ainsley Maitland-Niles could have been a little quicker to get out for the crucial equalising goal but he wasn’t the worst performance of his career.
Shkodran Mustafi – 7
Shkodran Mustafi had a very good game. It was a shame that he wasn’t rewarded with a clean sheet but the former Germany international can be pleased with his performance.
David Luiz – 6
David Luiz wasn’t quite as impressive as his defensive partner but he was mostly fine.
Bukayo Saka – 7.5
He was probably Arsenal’s best performer on the day. Bukayo Saka played at left-back in a back four once again but he coped well at the back. Moving forward, he was just as impressive. Saka produced a couple of wonderful crosses including the assist for the opening goal.
Lucas Torreira – 6.5
Lucas Torreira did well enough. He kept things tidy in midfield and can be pleased with his evening.
Granit Xhaka – 6
He was fine. Granit Xhaka kept it tight and moved the ball around the pitch well enough.
Nicolas Pepe – 6
Nicolas Pepe was lively but he will be frustrated with his performance. The Ivorian should have had a bigger impact on the game given the amount of space he found himself in at times. Still, he was unfortunate not to win a penalty.
Mesut Ozil – 4
He was poor. It was a rare match for Mesut Ozil today as he was let down by his final ball. That’s a rare sight for the former Germany international who is usually so exceptional in possession. However, it cost him and his side today.
Gabriel Martinelli – 7
There was a lot to like about Gabriel Martinelli’s performance. He worked extremely hard to find space and create chances and he grabbed a goal as a reward.
Alexandre Lacazette – 5.5
Alexandre Lacazette had some good moments winning the ball back and being involved in possession but it wasn’t his day.
Sub: Eddie Nketiah (73′) – 5
He looked lively but things didn’t work out for him.
