David Ornstein has claimed that Arsenal are in ‘advanced talks’ to make their first signing of the January transfer window (via The Athletic).
The January transfer window is rarely the time to get the biggest deals done especially at Arsenal.
The January of 2018 aside, the Gunners have rarely splurged in the winter window, particularly under former manager Arsene Wenger.
This window may not be any different with reports that the club is only keen on securing a couple of loan signings to fill gaps in the squad.
Now, David Ornstein has claimed that the Gunners are in ‘advanced talks’ to make their first of those loan signings with PSG’s Layvin Kurzawa.
Kurzawa is a 27-year-old left-back who joined the Ligue 1 side from Monaco for a reported €23 million back in 2015.
He’s made 100 appearances for PSG in that time but his contract is set to expire at the end of the season.
He had been a free transfer target for the Gunners but Ornstein has claimed that Arsenal are hoping to sign him this window without paying a fee.
Arsenal have a big weakness at left-back right now. Kieran Tierney is out until March while Sead Kolasinac has suffered his own injury problems. Layvin Kurzawa has injury issues of his own so his signing may not solve all of Arsenal’s problems.
