Both Chelsea and Manchester United reportedly made contact regarding a deal for Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani last week.
The two Premier League heavyweights are looking to bolster their front lines and are thought to have recently joined Atletico Madrid in the race for the Uruguayan.
And recent reports from Spain have provided a key update regarding a January move for the 32-year-old.
Marca claim that Atletico have offered PSG €10 million to land the forward, who is out of contract in the summer, during the current window.
However, the French giants are holding out for €30 million for Cavani, who reportedly wants a two-and-a-half-year deal.

Cavani will turn 33 next month, so we think the Blues need to stay well clear of a reported move for the striker this month.
Yes, he’s been a prolific scorer for PSG over the last six-and-a-half years, netting 195 goals, but in our opinion, his best years are now behind him.
Frank Lampard has worked wonders with the youth this season, with forward Tammy Abraham one of many to have benefitted from Lampard’s Stamford Bridge arrival.
Chelsea, in our opinion, seem to be heading in the right direction with their youthful squad, so we feel that bringing in Cavani for a large fee this month would be a backwards move.
Personally, we feel as if the Blues would be better off targeting a young exciting striker without Cavani’s wealth of experience, someone like Timo Werner.
The prolific RB Leipzig man has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge for some time and appears keen on a summer exit, and at 23, would, in our eyes, be a statement signing for the club’s future plans.
