Arsenal have officially confirmed that Mikel Arteta will be the club’s next permanent head coach.
It’s taken almost three full weeks but Arsenal have finally confirmed Unai Emery’s replacement as head coach after the Spaniard was sacked on November 29.
The team’s form has completely spiralled in the last few months with the Gunners’ top-four chances slipping away.
Freddie Ljungberg has managed the team on an interim basis since then but the club’s performance has barely improved.
Gunners fans had been looking for some kind of closure on the situation and finally, the club has confirmed the news people have been waiting for.
Mikel Arteta has been announced as the new permanent head coach of Arsenal Football Club after leaving his role as an assistant at Manchester City.
The Spaniard is a former club captain who hung up his boots in 2016 and has been an assistant to Pep Guardiola ever since.
Arteta had been in the running to replace Arsene Wenger two years later but Emery ultimately got the job.
Now, it’s Arteta’s turn to step up and take on the full responsibilities of the number one at the Emirates.
It’s an interesting appointment. Let’s hope that Mikel Arteta can oversee an immediate upturn in the club’s form on the pitch and improve the vision off it. The Spaniard needs to help the club recapture its identity and motivate this squad of players. It’s a massive project, let’s just hope that Arteta is up to the task.
