Manchester United star Chris Smalling is reportedly still being chased by a persistent Roma side who want to sign him permanently.
The experienced Englishman is currently with the Serie A giant on a temporary loan contract and has impressed since sealing his move.
United are believed to have made it a point to ensure Smalling wasn’t leaving permanently when they agree to a move as they didn’t want to cut ties with him.
The main reason for the former Fulham man’s departure in the first place isn’t cause Ole Gunnar Solskjaer lack of trust in him but rather his insistence on ensuring first-team football for himself.
The 30 year old knew he wouldn’t be guaranteed minutes following Harry Maguire’s transfer and so sought to fight for his career elsewhere.
According to Manchester Evening News, Il Romanista report that Roma are insistent on bringing in Smalling and so are willing to put in an even better offer over the coming days after the Red Devils rejected their previous bid.
Solskjaer’s side could just be playing hardball over a transfer to increase the value of their player and rake in the most money but that could end up backfiring if his form happens to drop off soon.
