Three first-half goals were enough for Manchester City to beat Arsenal in dominating performance.

Team News – Match Reports – Player Ratings
Match: Arsenal v Manchester City
Venue: Emirates Stadium
Kick-Off (UK Time): 16:30 15/12/2019
—–
Here’s how we rate Freddie Ljungberg and the Arsenal players:
Freddie Ljungberg – 3
Again, this Arsenal side showed few signs of progress. Freddie Ljungberg’s lineup looked a little open and the Gunners conceded very much the same kind of goals as they have in every match against Pep Guardiola’s Man City.
Bernd Leno – 6
Bernd Leno was one of the few Arsenal players who put in a decent showing. The German produced one truly incredible stop to keep out Kevin De Bruyne’s curling effort.
Ainsley Maitland-Niles – 4
He did his best. Ainsley Maitland-Niles hasn’t played much football lately but has been forced back into the side. The Englishman defended as well as could have been expected of him.
Calum Chambers – 3
He was caught out time and time again. Calum Chambers was hugely disappointing at the back, slow off the mark and error-prone.
Sokratis Papastathopoulos – 4
He was a little better than his defensive partner but he still won’t be happy with his night. Sokratis had a tough evening against this City attack.
Sead Kolasinac – 3
He was only on the pitch for a little over half an hour but he had a poor match. Sead Kolasinac was woeful defensively and attracts much of the blame for City’s second goal.
Sub: Bukayo Saka (39′) – 5
He did about as well as he could have. Bukayo Saka entered the game at 3-0 and was certainly targeted down that left flank. He was played out of position but he coped fairly well.
Matteo Guendouzi – 3
He was outclassed in the centre of midfield. Matteo Guendouzi was a class behind the City team.
Lucas Torreira – 4
He was poor in the first half. Lucas Torreira was all over the place positionally and just didn’t move the ball quick enough. He dawdled and delayed in possession and it stopped his side from mounting a counter. Torreira improved after the break but it was too little, too late.
Sub: Joe Willock (81′) – 4
He did okay.
Mesut Ozil – 3
Not his best match. It wasn’t all Mesut Ozil’s fault but he certainly didn’t do enough to force himself on this match. He just couldn’t make an impact on it.
Sub: Emile Smith Rowe (59′) – 5
Emile Smith Rowe worked hard and tried to make things happen.
Nicolas Pepe – 4
Nicolas Pepe had a few moments of flair but he spent much of the match chasing back when he didn’t have the ball and being crowded out when he did. He tried his best but the Ivorian just couldn’t make an impact on the match.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – 3
He did next to nothing. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang cut a frustrated figure all match long and it’s not a surprise given his performance.
Gabriel Martinelli – 4
He was one of Arsenal’s better players today but that’s not saying much. Gabriel Martinelli was one of the few Gunners players to show a bit of fight but it wasn’t enough for him. The Brazilian will look back on that early missed chance with regret.
