Liverpool have reportedly snubbed a move for Chelsea target Timo Werner in favour of a deal for RB Salzburg’s Takumi Minamino.
The Reds announced the signing of the Japan international on Thursday morning, with the Daily Star reporting that the Premier League leaders turned down moving for the RB Leipzig striker next month in favour of the 24-year-old.
The Blues have been tipped to move for Werner in recent days, with the Daily Mail reporting that Frank Lampard is set to splash the cash in the new year.
The 23-year-old has been earmarked as an attacking target, with Lampard keen to bolster his ranks at the top end of the pitch.

The news of Liverpool confirming the signing of Minamino will come as a boost to Chelsea.
The Blues could now have a free run at bringing the prolific German to the Premier League, and he could leave the Bundesliga leaders over the next six months.
There’s still plenty of work to do, but knowing that the Reds have snubbed a move for the forward will bring smiles to many at Stamford Bridge.
