Manchester United have reportedly taken the first steps in their efforts to sign Borussia Monchengladbach star Denis Zakaria.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s need for a midfield reinforcement is well known with some fans even calling for it to happen in January.
Paul Pogba’s injury has been a wakeup call for United as their engine room has looked woefully short of quality and quantity.
Reports have also emerged over Nemanja Matic’s potential departure to Inter Milan this winter so perhaps it’s even more urgent to bring in a midfielder.
Zakari fits Solskjaer’s transfer policy of signing emerging talent so it’s not a rumour that’s completely farfetched.

Arsenal are more or less in the same boat as the Red Devils but it will be difficult to fight off Liverpool’s interest, particularly if they win the Premier League this season.
Even if they don’t and Solskjaer’s men fail to qualify for Champions League football, it can still prove to be a tough ask.
Scott McTominay has proven to be a potential star himself and Fred has slowly but surely improved in Pogba’s absence.
However, that’s not enough to survive on and a midfielder is needed though it could be argued an attacking-midfielder is more urgent.
