Former Arsenal man Cohen Brammal has said that Freddie Ljungberg is a better coach than current Gunners boss Unai Emery (via The Athletic).
Nobody expected it to be the case just a few years ago but now, Freddie Ljungberg looks very much like becoming a future head coach of Arsenal.
It’s a surprise that the former Gunners player is even a coach, to begin with, but the Swede has certainly made a big impression since returning to the club.
Ljungberg had been in charge of the Under-23 side last season but was promoted to the first-team over the summer.
Now, a player who has played under both Ljungberg and current Gunners head coach Unai Emery has given the lowdown on their qualities.
“I’ve worked with Arsene Wenger, I’ve worked with Unai Emery,” former Gunners full-back Cohen Brammal told The Athletic.
“I’ve worked with big coaches and, for me, Arsene and Freddie are the best ones that I’ve had.
“He worked with me a lot on my body shape, my first touch. He would take the time to show me techniques: how to shoot properly using the outside of your foot, for example.
“With crosses, he showed me you don’t always have to whip it. How to pick someone out. It was always constructive criticism.
“He’s young and he’s been doing something else for a bit. It was the same football as Arsene — the same mentality — but on the sidelines Freddie was more aggressive and a bit more ‘heart on his sleeve’.”
“I think Freddie’s got the whole package. I think he’ll be massive at Arsenal in the years to come.”
That’s some statement from Cohen Brammal. Everyone at Arsenal seems to have good things to say about Freddie Ljungberg. He’s developed exceptionally well as a coach in a short space of time. It may be too soon for the Swede to step straight into the main seat right now but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Ljungberg named head coach when Unai Emery leaves the club.
