Manchester United star Scott McTominay has the statistics to back up his man of the match display vs Norwich as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men finally scored more than once for the first time since their opening fixture.
The young Scotsman was at the very least impressive even if he lost the ball for Norwich’s consolation goal in the 3-1 victory.
McTominay opened the scoring himself to get United going but his overall performance was more of a box to box display of skill rather than an outright attacking one.
The academy product has been trusted by Solskjaer and he has stepped up hugely, particularly in Paul Pogba’s absence.
McTominay’s been such a rock in the Red Devils’ midfield that even Fred is slowly but surely starting to settle in as well.
Scott McTominay’s first half vs. Norwich City by numbers:
100% take-ons completed
most total passes (30/34)
most final third passes (14/17)
joint most ball recoveries (7)
most fouls won (2)

While the 22 year old is quite capable in his defensive duties, he’s arguably at his best when he’s allowed to effect both ends of the pitch.
Alongside Fred, McTominay is released a little but one would imagine he would go back to holding again once Pogba finds his fitness.
Hopefully the tenacious Brazilian will keep his place in midfield and the world class Frenchman is pushed up into the number 10 role instead so United can truly flourish.
