Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly wants to keep a hold of Chris Smalling after interest emerged from Everton as the transfer madness continues.
The English summer window ends on Thursday and so anything goes at the moment with the towering centre-back suddenly a target of the Toffees.
Solskjaer is now overstocked in a position that was previously lacking any quality as he can now pick from seven players for two positions.
Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo, Eric Bailly, Axel Tuanzebe and Smalling are all fighting for the same roles.
Fans imagined at least two of the above would be sold with many predicting the former Fulham man would be one of the ones to go.

Smalling is arguably Solskjaer’s most disposable centre-back given that he’s now 29 years old and incapable of playing out from the back.
However, in fairness to the experienced Englishman, he’s one of the more senior players in the squad and has been the most fit out of the injury prone quartet of himself, Jones, Rojo and Bailly.
Either way, it makes no sense for Solskjaer to keep so many players and given Maguire and Lindelof are almost guaranteed to be the first-choice pairing, the onus is on the rest to prove their worth.
