Leicester City star James Maddison has admitted to previously idolising Cristiano Ronaldo during his days at Manchester United, amidst rumours over the English prospect’s future.
Reports emerged over the summer of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s desire to bring in the Foxes’ star after the need to invest in his midfield became apparent.
United lose Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera this year without signing a replacement for either one of them.
Even before the duo departed, fans felt the club’s engine room was in serious need of star quality with Paul Pogba the only true top player.
Maddison would’ve reinforced the Red Devils’ soft centre and although a deal didn’t happen this summer, it could be that it won’t be long before he’s strutting his stuff at Old Trafford.
James Maddison: "The player I grew up idolising? I'm nothing like him but Cristiano Ronaldo. When I was coming through school, he was the main attraction of Premier League football, playing for #mufc – I use to love him." #mulive [poet & vuj]

Perhaps Maddison’s love for Cristiano Ronaldo could see him with to play for Manchester United himself and join up with former teammate Harry Maguire.
However, it could be that there’s no relation between the two topics and dragging him away from Leicester City will be incredibly difficult.
Although attacking-midfield isn’t a priority, it would be a welcome addition and one that would certainly add quality to United’s starting XI as well as hand it a new dimension.
