Reports in England and France suggest that Arsenal are closing in on a deal to sign William Saliba without blowing their entire transfer budget (via The Standard).
Arsenal’s measly £45 million transfer budget has been the source of considerable frustration amongst Gunners fans this year.
The club is in need of a number of additions with the centre of defence, left-back, right wing, and the central midfield all looking a little thin.
The Gunners will need to be smart if they want to get all their business over the line and it seems as if they might have done just that.
Reports in England suggest that the club has agreed on a deal with Saint-Etienne for the transfer of French defender William Saliba.
The Standard has claimed that the deal won’t damage Arsenal’s transfer budget too much and will see the 18-year-old remain in Ligue 1 for a season on loan.
Saliba has long been rumoured to be an Arsenal target and is said to have agreed upon personal terms with the Gunners last month.
It’s a good story which comes from a reputable source. Arsenal are seriously interested in William Saliba and the reported £25 million price tag seems like a steal should he develop as expected. Let’s hope this is the case because Saliba is seriously talented.
