Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s transfer plans may be in ruins in regards to Newcastle United star Sean Longstaff.
The midfielder fits the Norwegian’s transfer policy of signing emerging, young, British talent but it appears the Magpies are not interested in a deal.
United have signed Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka after the former striker’s demands but it seems he may not win this time around.
Longstaff would add depth to Solskjaer’s options, particularly with the departures of Marouane Fellaini in January and Ander Herrera this summer.
Paul Pogba, Andreas Pereira, Fred, Scott McTominay and Nemanja Matic all make up the former Molde man’s engine room.
According to Sky Sports, the Red Devils are preparing a bid despite Newcastle insisting Sean isn’t for sale and that a bid over £50m would be needed to secure his signature.
Owner Mike Ashley has already shown an openness to selling his players with Ayoze Perez securing a move to Leicester City.
However, it seems Newcastle are more hesitant when it comes to one of their younger prospects and so they’re more protective over Longstaff.
A bid over £50m is unlikely to come from Manchester United so unless they reduce their asking price, a move won’t be happening any time soon.
