Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Southampton star Mario Lemina, perhaps as a replacement to the potentially outgoing Paul Pogba.
The 25 year old has emerged as a shock target of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s though it may make sense should he be considered an alternative to Newcastle’s Sean Longstaff.
The Englishman is probably the more ideal target but rumours have claimed the Magpies are looking for £50m which is seemingly above and beyond United’s evaluation of him.
Lemina has previously stated a desire to leave and it’s understood Southampton are open for business which means a deal for him would be far easier.
Solskjaer’s transfer policy so far has been to sign young, emerging talent and the midfielder fits the bill as the transfer window heats up.
According to the Telegraph, the Red Devils will have to fight off Arsenal and Leicester City for Mario’s signature with Southampton hoping to recoup the £18m they spent on him, though no one has yet met their terms.
The figure mentioned shouldn’t been an issue for any of the aforementioned clubs so it’s likely the former Juventus man will pick his next club based on what appeals to him most.
Lemina would be offered Europa League football and the chance to be a part of restoring a sleeping giant to it’s former glory.
