Manchester United have announced that keeper Dean Henderson has penned a new three-year contract at the club and will return to Sheffield United on loan for the 2019-20 season.
The 22-year-old, who joined Man United from Carlisle as a youth player in 2011, enjoyed a remarkable breakthrough season at Bramall Lane during which he played a key role in the club’s promotion to the Premier League.
Henderson did not travel with United on their pre-season tour and instead trained at Carrington ahead of completing a move back to the Blades.
The club confirmed on Friday afternoon that Henderson had penned a new three-year deal with the option of extending for another year ahead of returning to Sheffield for a taste of Premier League football next season.
Deano's a keeper
Congrats to @DeanHenderson on signing a new #MUFC contract, and best of luck for the season ahead with Sheffield United!

Henderson is brilliantly placed. With only a year left on David de Gea‘s contract, and no finish line for talks over a new deal in sight, Henderson may well find himself becoming first-choice at Old Trafford should he enjoy a good upcoming campaign at a club he knows well and clearly loves.
Of course, United supporters would rather De Gea remained between the sticks for many years, but having Henderson thriving and Premier League ready is never a bad thing.
