Frank Lampard has completed an emotional return to Stamford Bridge after replacing Maurizio Sarri in the Chelsea dugout.
As reported by the club’s official website, Lampard puts pen to paper on a three-year deal, with Jody Morris also expected to follow him back to Stamford Bridge.
The ex-Derby County boss quickly emerged as the favourite for the job when it became clear that Sarri would be departing for Juventus.
Due to the transfer ban that is hanging over the club’s head, Chelsea have struggled to attract a top-tier manager who would be willing to work under such strict circumstances.
While it is much sooner than both parties would have hoped, the Chelsea job is one that Lampard simply would not be able to turn down, with himself and the club boasting aspirations of making the move happen one day.
The Blues legend led Derby County to the final of the Championship play-offs last season but was unable to secure promotion to the Premier League as they were defeated 2-1 by Aston Villa.
