Manchester United target and Sporting Lisbon star Bruno Fernandes has broken his silence on a potential move to England, admitting it’s his desire to play in the Premier League.
The talented Portuguese has been on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s radar all summer long but a move hasn’t managed to transpire just yet.
It’s understood the two clubs are apart in their evaluation of the goalscoring midfielder as Lisbon hold firm on their asking price.
It appears United will have to break the bank to sign Fernandes, a move that may be made more difficult by their already high value interest in Leicester City’s Harry Maguire.
Either way Solskjaer may be tempted to consider cheaper alternatives though he will be frustrated with his board’s lack of compliance.
According to Sky Sports, Bruno said: “The only thing I can do now is that I need to catch the plane so I don’t miss it. Will this be the last match for Sporting? I don’t know, it’s the coach who decides.
“I told I’d like to play in England, but I don’t care about it right now.
“If it could be this season? It could be when the club decides, I’m not in charge.”
Next summer might be a different story entirely and Manchester United may no longer need Fernandes should Scott McTominay and Andreas Pereira improve tremendously.
At the moment Ole’s midfield looks lacking in true, undoubted talent and that’s perhaps the reason he’s desperate to sign the 24 year old.
However, Sporting are reluctant to sell for cheap and it’s believed they’re looking for a fee close to €70m.
United meanwhile are only looking to spend €55m so either both clubs will have to give in a little or the deal will no longer happen.
