Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has warned Manchester United that there will be a “cut off point” when the club no longer entertains bids for Harry Maguire.
Man United’s interest in Maguire dates back to last summer, when they failed in their pursuit of the Englishman, and have reportedly made two further bids this summer, with the most recent one being around £70m.
Leicester, however, remain adamant that they will only let Maguire leave if United make an offer of £90m.
Speaking after a pre-season win over Scunthorpe United on Tuesday, Rodgers sent a clear message to United: meet our valuation soon, or forget about signing Maguire.
Brendan Rodgers: “There will be a cut-off point. We can’t leave ourselves short. There are targets we have in mind if Harry was to move on. But we don’t have to sell. If the valuation isn’t met it certainly won’t be allowed to go to the very end.” #mufc [Sun]

United have placed emphasis on signing Maguire ahead of Bruno Fernandes, and rightly so. They needed a central defender last summer and failed to sign one. If they do the same this summer, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s project is dead before it even really lifted off.
Against Leeds United, for example, United were aggressive and nimble-footed in attack, displaying elements of a wider plan – engendered by Solskjaer – detailing how to attack with greater efficiency.
At the back, though, it was largely the same as it has always been. Leeds were unlucky not to score on a few occasions.
It is that defensive area, the springboard for everything else, which United simply cannot afford to avoid.
