Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has claimed that it was “love at first sight” with Alexandre Lacazette when he joined Arsenal last year (via FourFourTwo).
It’s clear that the biggest strength in this Arsenal squad is the club’s two forwards, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.
Both strikers would warrant a place in any squad in world football after an excellent season saw Lacazette named best player and Aubameyang crowned Premier League top scorer.
It could have been disastrous but it’s clear that the two players are big friends off the pitch, something which Aubameyang spoke about in an interview.
“It was love at first sight,” the Gabonese striker told FourFourTwo.
“The day I arrived, he came straight up to me and said, ‘I hope we’ll play together.’ I said, ‘I hope so too.’
“[I] knew we could form a really good partnership and help each other score goals.”
The feeling was mutual for Lacazette who had similar things to say about his strike partner.
“He was the kind of player I joined Arsenal to play with,” the Frenchman said.
“At first, people were saying, ‘Hey, he’s coming to take your place,’ but I always knew we could play together.”
They’re the two best players in the Arsenal squad so it’s great that they get on so well. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette are the biggest positives at the club right now. Let’s hope this lethal strike partnership continues next term.
