Angel Gomes revealed that his first senior goal for Manchester United came straight from the training ground.
The 18-year-old, who initially appeared in the first team in 2017, has so far impressed this pre-season with his close control in tight spaces.
And it was through a precisely worked move that Gomes scored the winner against Tottenham Hotspur, feeding the ball to Juan Mata on the edge of the box before the Spaniard worked a perfect inside pass into the youngster, who then expertly rolled the ball under the keeper.
Speaking after the game, Gomes noted that he had worked on that move with Mata on the training ground.
Gomes: "Me and Juan [Mata] do that in training, I’m happy with the move, it’s an honour to work with a player like him.” #mulive

It was like watching past and future operate on one level plain, creating something beautiful in the process.
Mata still has the game smooth technical skill but his pace appears to have deserted him; Gomes does not quite have the same sophistication in possession as his senior but his zip across the surface indicates that he really could be an incarnate of the Spaniard one day.
That technical understanding will continue to blossom should Solskjaer give him further opportunities over the next few months. He is far too good to be left to one side.
