Chelsea will not make a decision on the future of Kurt Zouma until they have appointed a new first-team manager, according to a report from The Mirror.
On Thursday, it was suggested that the Blues had entered talks with Everton over a possible deal for the Frenchman, who spent the duration of last season on loan at Goodison Park.
Zouma had struggled with recurring injury problems and a failure to play football on a regular basis before his temporary departure but may feature in the club’s long-term plans.
The 24-year-old was in impressive form for Everton, and this appears to have led Chelsea to consider whether or not he will feature for them next season.
Frank Lampard is, as per The Mirror’s report, set to become the new Blues boss following Maurizio Sarri’s move to Juventus.
The former Chelsea midfielder is understood to be a big admirer of Zouma’s talents and could yet involve him in his first-team plans, but he will firstly assess the options at his disposal in pre-season before making a decision.
