Chelsea are reluctant to make a decision on the respective futures of Davide Zappacosta and Marcos Alonso until they have secured a new first-team manager.
According to a report from The Telegraph, assessing what to do with the defensive pair could be among the first of many jobs Frank Lampard will need to carry out should he be appointed as the new boss.
Derby County are keen to retain the services of their manager, but following Maurizio Sarri’s move to Juventus, Chelsea want to appoint their former midfielder as the Italian’s replacement.
With a transfer ban looming, the Blues are set to take a cautious approach when it comes to selling players this summer, and it seems the incoming manager will make the final decision on both Zappacosta and Alonso.
The right-back is understood to be enthused by the prospect of returning to his homeland of Italy, while the left-sided defender could seek pastures new amid interest from Atletico Madrid, according to The Telegraph.
