Sky Italia has claimed that Arsenal will refuse to sell midfield Lucas Torreira to AC Milan this summer amid interest (via Sky Sports).
It’s a story which didn’t go down well with Arsenal fans when they first learned of AC Milan’s interest in Lucas Torreira.
The 23-year-old midfielder had an impressive first season in North London and there is certainly more to come from the Uruguayan international.
However, the news broke last week that Serie A side AC Milan – and CEO Ivan Gazidis – are keen on signing Torreira.
We reported last week that Arsenal had set a surprisingly low price of around £35 million for the midfielder.
There was even talk of Milan midfielder Franck Kessie moving to Arsenal as part of a potential deal for Torreira.
However, reports in Italy suggest that Arsenal are unwilling to sell the midfielder who remains a crucial part of Unai Emery’s plans.
It’s promising to see that Lucas Torreira is not being considered a departure for Arsenal this summer. The Uruguayan is a crucial first-team player and that shouldn’t change any time soon. The 23-year-old still has a lot to give in an Arsenal shirt and selling him now would be a mistake.
