Manchester United star Paul Pogba has all but confirmed an exit to Real Madrid after publicly admitting a desire to take on a new challenge elsewhere.
The Frenchman has been heavily linked with a move to the Spanish capital having previously stated it would be a dream to play there under Zinedine Zidane.
Madrid are understood to be interested in Pogba as well but nothing has materialised as of yet.
The midfielder is said to be the last piece of the puzzle for Zidane’s rebuild having already spent around £250m bringing in targets this summer.
Real have been swift in their business so far but the former Juventus man proves to be a transfer that will be difficult to complete.
According to the Guardian, Paul said: “There is a lot of thinking [going on]. I have been three years in Manchester and have been doing great – some good moments and some bad moments, like everybody, like everywhere else.
“After this season and everything that happened this season, with my season being my best season, as well … I think for me it could be a good time to have a new challenge somewhere else. I am thinking of this: to have a new challenge somewhere else.”
Pogba has definitely made it easier for Madrid to sign him now given his public statement but the Red Devils are adamant they’re not open to selling.
Other reports claim those at Old Trafford will only consider selling the academy product if there £150m evaluation is met.
Real will have to offload several stars to afford such a fee but it’s not something one could put past them given their history in the transfer market.
