Sporting Lisbon manager Marcel Keizer has admitted that it will be difficult to keep hold of Manchester United target Bruno Fernandes this summer.
Fernandes, who scored 31 goals from midfield last season, has emerged as one of Man United’s primary midfield targets.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is determined to add midfield reinforcements to his squad after both Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera left the club.
And Keizer, speaking in an interview earlier this week, noted that holding onto a player like Fernandes would be challenging.
“I want Bruno Fernandes to stay, but everyone knows the current situation,” he said. “It will be difficult to keep him.”
United face competition for Fernandes. Tottenham Hotspur have made contact with the midfielder’s representatives, according to the Telegraph, at a time when United cooled their pursuit of the 24-year-old in order to focus on signing Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
However, if the reliable Gianluca Di Marzio is to be believed, Spurs have directed their energy towards signing midfielder Tanquy Ndombele from Lyon, giving United a clearer run at Fernandes. According to Portuguese media outlet O Jogo, Sporting are demanding a fee of around £70m for his signature.
Supporters will no doubt want their club to focus on getting this deal over the line after United finally secured the signature of Wan-Bissaka.
