West Brom targeting loan deal for promising Chelsea midfielder

West Bromwich Albion are reportedly attempting to agree a deal with Chelsea to take midfielder Trevor Chalobah on loan for the 2019-20 season.

The 19-year-old made 43 Championship appearances for Ipswich Town last season, scoring twice but being unable to save the club from relegation.

According to Football Insider, Slaven Bilic wants to bolster his midfield options ahead of his first season in charge at the Hawthorns and Chalobah falls into his plans.

Yet to make a Chelsea first-team appearance, it’s unlikely the defensive midfielder will feature this season and therefore a loan move could very well be on the cards.

With Frank Lampard set to be announced as Maurizio Sarri’s successor as early as this weekend, there should be a bigger focus on the exciting youth talent at the club.

However, another campaign in the Championship is probably what’s best for Chalobah at the moment and West Brom will be getting a fine midfielder.
