Tammy Abraham admits he is ready to flourish at Chelsea next season, having been given a great opportunity to impress.
The Blues’ transfer ban means no players can be signed this summer, acting as a major blow to the west Londoners.
It is likely to force them into using more youngsters than they ever have during the Roman Abramovich era.
Abraham looks set to be one of those used, with a lack of firepower meaning the striker is unlikely to be sold.
The 21-year-old scored 26 goals on loan at Aston Villa last season, helping them back into the Premier League via the playoffs.
Speaking to the Guardian, Abraham believes this is his chance to make the transfer ban act as a blessing in disguise:
This year is the most important year for us. It is now or never.
There will never be a better time to play the youngsters. Of course the transfer ban is probably not what the club wanted but for us it is exciting.
I am excited and I am sure the rest of the players are.
There is a great chance for us young players so we must get our heads down in training and go for it at Chelsea.
I have already been talking to the club about pre-season. I’m going to have a couple of weeks and then come back hitting the ground running.
There is no better time for a young player to be at Chelsea. I am going to give it my all.
With a new manager coming in there is no better time to show what I am made of in pre-season. I am just buzzing at the thought of the new season.
It will be fascinating to see how Chelsea fare next season, with likely new manager Frank Lampard forced into rebuilding the team and give youth a go.
Abraham has obvious potential and now is the time for him to show he can flourish for one of the country’s top sides.
