Chelsea 'intend' to complete €55m deal despite transfer ban

Chelsea are planning to sign midfielder Mateo Kovacic on a permanent deal from Real Madrid this summer.

According to Spanish outlet Marca, via Sport Witness, Chelsea “intend” to complete a move for Kovacic, despite their transfer ban.

FIFA have imposed a two-window transfer ban on Chelsea after they breached rules relating to the transfer of youth players.

This means that Chelsea are unable to register players for the next two windows – this summer and next January.

However, the report claims that they could still sign Kovacic permanently and register him, as he was at the club on loan last season,

Chelsea signed Kovacic on a season-long loan from Real Madrid and are now looking to bring him back to Stamford Bridge in a deal worth €55m.

Kovacic made 51 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions last season, as Chelsea won the Europa League, but failed to score a goal for the club.
