Thomas Meunier wants to remain a Paris Saint-Germain player until his contract expires in the summer of 2020 and beyond, despite interest from Chelsea.
The Blues have been tipped to bring in a new right-back, following a noticeable dip from Cesar Azpilicueta this season, as age begins to catch up with him.
Meunier has become one of Europe’s more dependable right-backs in the last few years, impressing for both PSG and Belgium, in particular his eye for goal.
Despite speculation linking him with a move away from the Ligue 1 champions, the 27-year-old is not eyeing up an exit.
Speaking to RTBF, Meunier also accepted that he wouldn’t definitely stay, but made it clear where his allegiances lie:
The club and management know I would like to finish my contract at PSG or why not extend it.
If that does not happen, we will see what is possible and we will go elsewhere.
Meunier has only managed 29 appearances in all competitions this season, finding himself on the substitutes’ bench more regularly than before.
He would be more of a key man if he joined Chelsea, but it doesn’t appear to be a move that appeals to him currently.
