David de Gea 5 – Made a bright save with his feet in the first half but his weakness in one-on-ones was once again exposed by Huddersfield’s goal.
Ashley Young 5 – Looked older than 33 somehow. So slow in possession and always looked to be struggling to get into the right position.
Phil Jones 5 – Such a chaotic performance. Produced two passes which went straight to a Huddersfield player and was nowhere to be seen for their equaliser.
Victor Lindelof 6 – Had a relatively solid game, often atoning for the errors of his defensive partner in tight situations around the box.
Luke Shaw 5 – The Englishman’s forward play lacked any final product and he committed a moment of defensive suicide for Huddersfield’s equaliser, losing a challenge on the half-way line.
Nemanja Matic 6 – Used the ball nicely, often winning possession off Huddersfield players attempting to break. Lost some of that edge towards the end of the first half and was subbed soon after the break.
Scott McTominay 6 – Scored his second Premier League goal and played with solid application throughout, putting himself wherever he needed to be.
Paul Pogba 5 – Not good enough by the Frenchman’s standards. Dictated the play easily enough but so ineffective in the final third.
Juan Mata 5 – Begun the game well, moving the ball around smartly, but his influence on the game waned notably in the second period.
Alexis Sanchez 7 – One of his sharpest performances in a red shirt. First touch and decision making in the final third was a lot better than supporters have come to expect. Unfortunately forced off with yet another injury.
Marcus Rashford 5 – Should have been dropped some time ago. The youngster’s fitness is poor and his sharpness has deserted him. Needs a break.
